You decide

UGA returns 14 starters 10 on Off, 4 on Def
UF returns 10 starters 7 on Off, 3 on Def
A&M returns 11 starters 6 on Off, 5 on Def
bama returns 13 starters 6 on Off, 7 on Def

LSU returns 13 starters 9 on Off, 4 on Def.
Tigers had seven new starters on '12 defense.

LSU returns 14 starters - 9 on offense, 5 on defense.

Tahj Jones came off of academic suspension and started the bowl game just as he would have started all year. He is back.

Josh Downs was listed as a starter as a courtesy. Anthony "Freak" Johnson was the primary player at that DT position.

So, 1 returning DL, 2 LBs, 2 DBs = 5 returning defensive starters.

LSU will have a meh D in comparison to what they're used to. Plus Mett is just an average QB. I say 8-9 wins for LSU. Not bad for a down year.

LSU has more than enough talent to replace what they lose every year. Awful play calling is the only reason they lose games here and there.

Yep. And hopefully Cam Cameron fixes this. Our defense will always be very, very good under Chavis with our talent. We also brought back the entire offense.

All signs as of now point to our offense being extremely improved from past years.

But nahhh, we're gonna suck

Nope, you're wrong. LSU lost every starter plus they haven't been recruiting well so the new guys will suck. 0-12.

LSU had the #3 scoring defense, #3 rush defense, #6 pass defense, #3 total defense, the #2 3rd down defense, and the top turnover margin in the SEC.

You don't lose 7 starters off of a defense like that and not take a step back, even if it's just a small step back. This whole "OMG LSU RELOADS!!1" talk is asinine, because there really is no such thing as reloading in football. Yes, you can replace players, but the players with which you replace them with will not mirror their production. They'll either be better or worse, trending towards worse due to having less experience.

LSU's defense will be one of the better SEC defenses, but it might not be a top-3 defense like it was last year. Maybe a top half or a top-5 defense even, but not top-3.

Of course I could be wrong in this, and I'll happily eat crow if that's the case. Don't get butthurt because I disagree with you; that's the fricking point of these threads.

Sounds good to me.

want to hear from the LSU posters.

will you have a decent team this fall?

ya, I think we'll surprise some people...

Craig Loston will be back in a loaded secondary, and Chevis will reload the defense again...

The defensive won't lose as much of a step as people think...

We'll have to see about the offense, but I think a more simplified offense with a better tempo that can actually pass downfield will be a HUGE difference...

my question is....why are threads on this topic only about LSU when we return more starters than bama, A&M, and florida?

morons on this board have some notion that LSU lost half their 2 deep and everything is going to hell in a hand basket.....no mention of those other teams losing more starters.

When I was a kid I was an FSU fan....I watched them reload for years and years...that's where Alabama and LSU are right now. they are oozing with talent, and can "reload"

No.

Defense

Easley
Orr
Purifoy
Roberson
Watkins
Ball had a good amount of starts

Offense

Driskel
Harrisson
Halapio
Green
Dunbar
Joyer

6 on D and 6 on O.

Not sure where they got their numbers.

LSU defense was able to put up those rankings with an offense that was inept, predictable, and just downright bad.

If the LSU offense can put up a better attack, then it should offset what LSU lost on defense. Defense will still be good, our LBs should be better than ever.

We have a returning QB, all WRs return, and 3 RBs returning. I just hope Cam Cameron can fix the bad playcalling and the lack of passing attack.

If you think LSU will be an easy win this year, good luck with that!
LSU lost a lot but don't underestimate this team.

Decent yes but LSU fans do not want decent we want championships. Last year was decent. I think unless some young unproven talent steps up it will be a tough year on the bayou.

The LSU fans need to have more patience with Les. He'll get another crystal soon.

There is this thing called recruiting coaches do where you get more players. You may have heard of it.

I think so, but this year to me is a rebuilding year. There is also a new offensive system to learn. I think LSU will be much better at the end of the year, but I do expect some growing pains to start.

1) We didn't lose 7 starters, we lost 6 starters (Bennie Logan, Mingo, Montgomery, Minter, Simon, Reid).

2) In 2011 we lost Brockers, Ken Adams, Ryan Baker, Mo Claiborne, Tyrann Mathieu, and Brandon Taylor (ALSO 6 STARTERS) - - and we still had a TOP 5 DEFENSE.

Clearly not.
