No. How long was he there, and how much did he change?

I think the intent was there but he never trusted anyone to do better than he thought he was doing.

Never would give up that control.

Les was quoted the other day about this and this is what he had to say,
"Our ballclub has the proportions of the effects of sameness that upon the institution of adaptation the will of the players was achieved in victory."

He actually did add 3 or 4 offensive plays per game that resembled those that spread offenses use...but it was far too few and much too late.

The game passed him by. The spread took over and he wasn't willing to change. That's the difference between him and Saban. They hated the spread equally but Saban knew he had to change to win.

Miles was caught in a chicken/egg scenario. He did not have the players he wanted to run the spread but he was not going to get them until he made severe changes in coaching staff and playbook. He wanted to sneak up on it rather than jump off the cliff and it was his fatal undoing... JMHO

I am not convinced. Any coach that doesn't mind working hard at recruiting is almost guaranteed a top 5 class most years and top 10 if he doesn't bust his arse. Ed Orgeron is also stepping into a good situation with most west coaches close to a hot seat and Saban getting close to retirement. I still think he is out of his league but he could do well the first couple of years just riding his assistants. We will see but I was never impressed with Miles.

Say what you want, but he remained loyal to Cam Cameron even though he needed to hire a new OC. Had he hired a new OC going into last year MAYBE things would've turned out diffrent. I still like the fact that he was loyal to his friend even though it meant he would lose his job. Also remember the Ravens went on a win streak and won the Super Bowl after a mid year firing of their OC which was Cam Cameron.

Les was used to running I formation halfback draws and winning 10-11 games per year simply because he had better athletes than everyone else except for Alabama. When the rest of the west caught up and got creative, he couldn't adapt. It wasn't like he was ever this stellar coach, he just had better players and the best defensive coach.

Brandon Harris is built for the spread. I wouldn't surprise me if he passes for 2500 yds and 20 tds for UNC

A long time, and a lot. Just wouldn't change the last couple years when it was obvious he had to.
We ran a lot of spread between 2005-09

Except at the quarterback position.

Other than the long ball Harris doesn't really have QB attributes. His best ability was heaving it long down the field so his WR could run under it. He's less of a statue in the pocket, but he is a long ball into coverage 1st vs scrambling to extend the drive.
