Ehhh has he really declined this year? As I said just now he doesn’t get nearly as many targets this year and he hasn’t been healthy. When teams actually throw his way he makes plays this was proven last week he Texas A&M

Let's talk about Burrow vs whole Bama D...crickets.
Is Burrow going to be playing on Saturday?

Yes. He has. His PFF grade is much lower, and he just flat out hasn’t been lockdown.
One game against Kellen Mond doesn’t prove anything. He didn’t have an exceptional game either.

Yea was about to point to PFF. But it’s probably due to playing on such a bad team. If I were him I’d seriously consider sitting next year.

He had better players around him on defense last year which made him better. It's tough when a true sophomore is your best defensive player.

PFF is not an end all be all first off. Second off PFF rates corners higher that get more targets and get opportunities to make plays on the ball stingley flat out doesn’t get nearly as much targets as he did last year I don’t get why your not taking that into account

Stingley has played Auburn, Missouri, Arkansas, A&M, Vanderbilt, and SC...
Best receiver he’s faced? Seth Williams? I can barely even name a wr from those teams.
He should of been dominant with the hype he gets

Devonta Smith vs. Stingley
Objectivity.
He got “torched” per sidewalk OP. On two plays where he wasn’t set, and one in garbage time.
This is one of the dumber things I have read lately.
1. If you are on the field, and have been on the field, and are such an integral part of the defense... there's no such thing as being able to claim "oops, I wasn't set". The official sets the ball. The offense snaps the ball. The defense goes and defends. This is not rocket surgery.
2. Garbage time? The game wasn't decided until the final minute when the LSU RB made the first down so the clock could be run out. LSU might have had a lot of garbage time in games last year... but it wasn't against Alabama.
3. And frankly, it's not "garbage time" unless you have your 2nd/3rd/4th string in. Stingley wasn't any of those.
The bottom line is that Smith consistently won individual matchups against Stingley. It's OK, it's just part of the game. LSU won a LOT of other head to head matchups and thus won the game. LSU won the game fair and square, we couldn't stop Burrow when it counted. That's objectivity. Stingley got torched by Smith. That's objective also. It is what it is.

So basically your saying even if he gets little targets he should still be dominant? How is that possible when he isn’t getting Thrown the ball lmao

I’m saying he should grade out better than an average corner does when playing inferior competition.
And it’s not solely because they don’t throw him the ball. That’s bs.

Smith will make Stringley his bitch again.

It was our best defensive performance of the year. Have you watched our defense? If it was your team you would be bragging as well after this shite show of a season lol!!!

All the yards were on 2 plays. A designed trick play, and a hail mary. That was it, he wasn't destroyed he got tricked because was a freshman.

He didnt get "destroyed"
It wasn't bad until the last 80 yarder. The first one wasn't on him
Then he beat him on a slant and crossing route

Watch the link of Smith and Sting. He was beat all night. He couldn't keep up with Smith.
One the 85 yard bomb lsu was still playing their regular defense. They weren't playing prevent etc. Sting was playing bump on Smith and Smith literally went right by him.
I'm not one of those guys that thinks Sting is bad. He's been injured this year and probably still is. However you just cant take those plays away.

Look man, I think stingley is a good player but he just got worked that game. Devonta did whatever he wanted to against him and it’s more than just those plays. Go watch the highlights, he got torched every pass thrown his way. That’s not good if your a CB. If you think otherwise, then I am not sure what to tell you bud lol
Posted on 12/2/20 at 7:55 am to Hurricane2020
It was more than those two plays. Every pass thrown at stingley to smith was caught. That means he caught every pass thrown to him. Does that sound good to you if you are a CB? Not sure why LSU fans keep trying to take away those two plays lmao. Stingley was guarding him and got toasted on both

That’s a lot of bargaining my friend.
You could also go the other way and look at all the missed opportunities where Smith had Stingley beat but Tua missed him.
