You made a thread saying they were and told us to deal with it... And now you say don't make one of us right or wrong? Ok just change your title to "I believe LSU is our rival."

Lol you're young. What happens in a few years if LSU is mediocre and we're competing with AandM for the top spot every year? Does LSU cease to be our rival, and then AandM becomes our rival.
What if in a few years Alabama is mediocre and LSU is competing w/ aTm for the top spot annually?
I'll still like beating Bama and you can hire one of our exCoaches.

Not hardly.
Anyone who thinks so is either really young or doesn't understand what a rivalry actually is.
LSU is and has been a huge game in recent years, but rivalries are forged over generations, not a few games.
UT and AU are rivalries also because they have a lot of fans in the state that Bama fans work with, live near by, go to school with etc.
Things like last year and Saban coming to UA help lay a good foundation for the beginnings of a rivalry.
The best/easiest litmus test for determining a rivalry is to think about the game if LSU had 2-3 losses already and wasn't one of the teams in the nation that can matchup with Bama. Would this game be as big as it has been the last cpl seasons when the SEC and BCS were riding on the outcome? Probably not. It would probably he similar to playing Arkansas or Miss St. Playing UT and AU is always a big deal and a game Bama fans desperately want to win, regardless of whether or not it has implications in the SEC/BCS and regardless of records.
That being said, if the road to the SECCG or BCSCG continues to go thru Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge for years to come and Things like coaches coaching at both schools, rematches, playing each other for the BCSCG continue to happen, those are the types of things that cause rivalries to be born...
I consider AU and LSU to be closer to a rivalry than UA and LSU, at least currently.

If you need to make threads trying to convince Bama fans of a rivalry, safe to say it's not one.

When we suck we will still base season success on beating UT and Auburn. No one ever said, well, at least we beat LSU this year. Coaches haven't been fired or got to keep their jobs based on beating LSU.

Hate can certainly make a rivalry bigger and more significant, but it is not a requirement. Army and Navy don't hate each other, but they are a great rivalry.
Ohio State and Michigan fans would claim their rivalry is the biggest because of the number of people, Harvard/Yale because it is so old, Alabama/auburn because of the hatred and intensity. All of those are rivalries, none more legitimate than the other.

Like i said earlier, shite changes in the SEC.
Who knows,Ole Miss could return to the Vaught days and oh let me guess nobody remembers the Bama/Ole Miss games of the 60's?
Posted on 11/1/12 at 6:56 pm to TideTurf
You know why no one remembers them? Cause they aren't our rival, that's why.

Unless the Civil Rights Act gets repealed, I'm thinking the glory days of Ole Miss aren't coming back.

I gave up on giving a frick about the rivalry thing a long time ago.
I hate Bama, it's my hate, I own it.
I don't give a frick how Bama feels about LSU.
Even so, I do find it interesting that on this thread at least, the Bama delegation seems split as to the question of LSU being a rival.
Hell, I'm generous enough to say we are rivals in the SEC West. And that there isn't a team I'd rather see LSU beat down than Alabama (and for me that dates back to the Bryant/Cholly Mac days).

Bama/ole miss of 60's equals current LSU/Bama, is that what you're saying? Where is Ole Miss on the rivalry list now? Same place LSU will be soon.

It's a great game but I honestly still consider ole nigaaaa and aTm our rivals. Bama is a rival as of now, but there's not as much history between the programs.
Do what?

NATidefan Dear fellow Bama fans..LSU IS "one"of our rivals..DWI How can I be a rival with fans I only see maybe once a year??? If you want to say they are a rival on TD, then ill agree with you.
Which is why rivalries are a matter of perspective. I consider lSU a rivalry now that the teams are competitive because I live around LSU fans

See. LSU fans care about beating Alabama because they are Alabama. Alabama cares about beating LSU because you are the only thing that stands between Bama and the SEC West title. If LSU had 4 losses and a mediocre team, Bama fans would not care about beating LSU because LSU would be irrelevant. To Bama fans, TN and AU are never irrelevant.
