Ex-Florida and Mississippi State head football coach Dan Mullen is considering a college football analyst job with ESPN this season and is expected to accept, according to Brett McMurphy of The Action Network. Mullen has appeared on several ESPN college football-related programs in the past and last coached during the 2021 campaign with the Gators. Mullen would follow several former coaches who have served in a broadcast or talent role for a major network, including fellow former Florida coach, Urban Meyer.

i want to see him take credit when florida avgs 40+ pts per game and finishes with 10 wins with a top 10 defense by the end of the year.

He’s got to be one of the most unlikeable former coaches in our conference.

And weird as heck to boot. No wonder Espn hired him.

I’ll never forget when he blamed the 2020 Sugar Bowl blowout loss on all his players and then doubled down and said that it wasn’t his fault because “the guys who played tonight weren’t the 2020 UF team”

Dude sounded like an SECRant poster. “I think we did pretty good considering it was our 4th string.” Acting like they weren’t still his players who he recruited and coached. What a colossal asswipe.

He is not made for tv, imo. A lot of coaches are great as analysts because they have a great personality. Mullen is just odd.

Spurrier was a bigger arse, but was funny as hell. Merlins has a bigger arse, but has zero cool.

Polished speaker? No

Likable/funny? Not really

I’m sure he’s a knowledgeable football mind, but if you can’t communicate it to your audience…Idk. Just seems like a weird hire.

Spurrier was also articulate and witty.

Merlins says "um" millions of times when speaking. He'll need to join a toastmasters club before doing public speaking for a living.

Yeah, but to be fair I find 99% of former coaches to be dead weight on air.

That was definitely a bad look for sure. He had multiple instances of being a jackass
