Longtime SEC defensive guru John Chavis left LSU after last season to become defensive coordinator at Texas A&M, adding some spice to the rivalry between the SEC West programs that close their regular seasons against each other.
While the ongoing split has resulted in LSU and Chavis filing lawsuits against each other, mostly regarding a debated $400,000 buyout, we now also know the details of Chavis’ new deal at A&M.
For his efforts to fix A&M’s troubled defense, “Chief” will make $1.5 million in 2015, $1.55 million in 2016 and $1.6 million in 2017, not including potential bonuses. The contract gives A&M the option to extend the deal for a fourth season. Chavis reportedly made $1.3 million a year at LSU. Chavis is among the top-ranked assistant coaches nationally, with new Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, the former Florida head coach, reportedly making between $1.6 million and 1.8 million over a three-year deal.

Oh look, another Chavis thread started by an Aggy on tRant and not on the Aggy board.

It certainly is nice to have the kind of money to just take what you want

This fall is going to be a much bigger shite-fest than it's ever been here one way or the other.

If McDonalds prices hamburgers at $100 a piece, then whoever doesn't buy one can't afford one.

What kind of food is Kevin Steele at 1 million?

Overpaid, for once I'm glad Alleva stuck to his guns. It's one thing for head coaches to fleece programs but when coordinators start doing it - good riddance! LSU D will be just fine this year!

I used to defend the DMN but after the horseshite they have been pulling with the fake Mike Miles over hiring "scandal" its really hard to read anything w/o taking it w/a massive grain of salt.
Their investigative abilities are currently somewhere near the level of that Rolling Stone UVA article.
Not saying this article is bullshite, just that I have large doubts about their ability to read documents such as this and come to the correct conclusion.

Ten or more programs in the SEC have enough money to take what they want ... that's not the issue with Chavis, is it not?
