Dabo is putting on a coaching clinic. Dude has yet to land a top 5 recruiting class yet manages to take it to Bama who never misses an opportunity to land the number 1 recruiting classes. One thing I noticed is Clemson in the past has had historically smaller classes while Bama was taking on at least 24 per year. Interesting to see how well that has worked for Clemson and in contrast Bama takes more kids and have also won titles with the strat of taking in more and having more turnover in the ranks.

Dabo has a good team in the ACC that is capable of making the playoff pretty much every year due to 0 competition. Anything can happen in one game. Several SEC teams could accomplish what dabo has accomplished if placed in a similar situation.

I agree.

Nick Sabans took his name out of the hat right here:

14 and 17 commits back to back? That's odd.

LSU, Auburn, UGA, Texas A&M all would have won or made the game extremely competitive if they Clemson's final 10 game schedule.

I'm not saying they aren't a great team, they are. But their schedule in the ACC allowed them to focus on the end goal weekly, with little prep time for the current weekly opponent.

It's not a shot at Clemson, it's a shot at the ACC.

Clemson's coaching staff recognized it and took at advantage, another sign of a great team.

On a serious note, Clemson redshirted a lot of talent the previous years to these two and guys stuck around rather than bolting to the NFL. That's why those classes were so small.

Our coach just wrapped up his 3rd season ....has he done a horrible job or something? Not sure what the discussion has to do with UGA.

Dabo is better at evaluating talent than Master Blaster.
Drew Brees is living proof.

Recruiting is a (large) part of coaching. Saban has 6 titles. He’s still #1.

Interesting strat that worked for them. UGA is going in the Bama direction where we take in larger classes and turnover more at the end of the year. Looks like either way can be successful. Clemson at some point will have no choice but to deal with the NFL coming early.

Well, to be fair, Kirby pulled a Saban with that dumb fake field goal...

Our players seem to have fun, and very rarely does any former player have any bad things to say about Saban. Actually, it's quite the opposite. Many of the players former and current look at him as somewhat of a father figure.

I have no problem calling Dabo the best coach in the country, he deserves that title as much as anyone else. However, a part of being a successful college coach is recruiting, and the reason for Clemson's success in 2018 can largely be attributed to blue chip players that Dabo recruited. To say that it's not close is just dumb.

Saban and his coaching staff had its worst performance to date in the NC game, no doubt, but you cant judge the guy based on one single game when he has several NCs and beats up on almost every team on the schedule pretty much every year.

This is pretty much it in a nutshell. Any team with top 10 recruiting class can win and even blow out an opponent with the right mismatches, rest, minimal injuries to starters, etc.

Even if you are stacked with talent like Bama is (talent based off recruiting ranking), not all of them work out (Bama's Petitbone for example, #1 in his position and #62 nationally of all positions, yet he isn't starting after 3 seasons and now transferring). And the opposite happens too when a 3 star player ends up being awesome...i.e. Mark Ingram. There's a lot of three star players out there on other rosters that end up being better than a 4 or 5 star player on other teams.
