I'm not a big follower of track. Can someone explain why there is indoor track and regular track? And why there are separate NCs for both?

Considered two different sports, but track is track for the most part and we always did both. Indoor track at the high school level is a bigger deal in the North, although Alabama does have an indoor season. Georgia does not.
The events are a little different. 60m vs. 100m as the shortest distance. The full mile vs. the 1500m (metric mile) in outdoor. Indoor track usually has a 200m (but can be shorter) banked track vs. the 400m in outdoor.
Some schools focus more on indoor than others.

Bama and Florida the only SEC schools in the top 10 in both genders.*

*Special recognition to A&M for the only SEC school ranked in the transgender category.

Coincidentally both schools that have hired Dick Booth since dumbass Long didn’t hire him as our head coach and dumbass Bucknam ran him off.
