Would you rather your team play a cupcake or a ranked team to begin your season?

Seems like it's either one or the other. Not too many mid-grade matchups out there to begin the season.

I'm excited to face a top 10 team this year as a fan but for the team's sake I'd rather have a "warm up" game like A&M and UGA have to work out the kinks.

I like UCF’s school of thought. Always start the season and end the season with a cupcake.

we could schedule a Kennesaw State opener for five years from now and there's a 100% chance they'd be ranked in the top ten by the time the game comes around

Always a ranked team. I love how Bama almost always has a decent team to start off with. Sometimes the other team doesn't keep up their end of the deal. Talking to you Louisville.

I’d rather play a ranked team. A cupcake game is almost a lose/lose situation. You can beat a cupcake by 52 points and still catch hell for it.

I'm torn on this one, generally I prefer a ranked opponent because it's easier to evaluate your team's potential.

But this year, first time head coach, neutral site, against a potential Heisman candidate, ehhh.

Ranked. It makes the first weekend much more fun, gives everyone something to look forward to during the offseason, and I think gives the players an early sense of urgency.

AU has lost several very close early ones to Clemson and none of the losses have hurt us. Either in the rankings or at the end of the year.

I prefer ranked, for sure. But, the first time we lose one, I may change my mind.

As long as Alabama has coach Saban, I would prefer a marquee top 10/15 matchup in the opening game. Giving him an entire summer to gameplan for that first team is just not fair. In the event that we ever do lose an opener, the loss surely wont weigh as much as if it had come late in the season.

I’m excited for this Louisville matchup specifically (not least because I’m from Lexington and hold a special hatred for the Cards in my heart), whereas if we played some random mid-major I wouldnt be able to enjoy the game. Either we win by a ton and its boring, or the game is close and you have a meltdown for letting a shite team keep it competitive.

I'd prefer all ranked and no cupcakes on the schedule.
