There are parts of the Buffalo that turn into a damp nature trail rather than a river this time of year.

I was going to offer some suggestions of places to stay to our out of state guest but we've got that covered.

If you can swing it, I would recommend returning to the area in the fall when the leaves begin to turn. That part of the country is gorgeous then.

If you’re on Lake Norfork, go buy some bass shiners and do some Striper fishing. They’re biting at about 40 feet, the closer to the dam the better.

Not the ideal time to use a $1,000 dollar plus new Kayak.

I've never understood why some kayaks are so expensive.

What are the advantages with those kevlar and carbon fiber materials?

Is it just for lighter-weight portaging, or does it really make a difference to most people?

Good call, you can actually buy beer there unlike anywhere in the Marshall, St. Joe, Gilbert area. Just got back from visiting the family in Searcy County...dry counties blow my mind even more that I live in Wisconsin now

Some of it is based on the brand. Jackson and Wilderness systems are the ones I own. I paid $900 plus the paddle which is added up to a little over $1,000. It is a hybrid so you can fish with it. The other is a Jackson Big Rig. It is a 13 foot fishing kayak that has all the bells and whistles you need for fishing. You can stand and cast without tipping over. It is a bout $1400-1700 dollars but it is a luxury kayak compared to the cheaper ones at Wal-Mart.

Not all of them are made the same. Most of them are made from roto mode while others like the Pelican are a two piece but are more vulnerable to large rocks.

What drives the prices up are the accessories that you want on the kayak. Seats are a big deal as people have complained how it hurts just sitting on almost the bare kayak.

If you notice most places including Wal-Mart are trying to get away from the old school kayaks.

Wow, that sounds pretty cool.

I had no idea they made models like that!

You have taken your shots at Arkansas but I assure you... we would never desire you break down in Shreveport. If you do go ahead and post your location and phone number and one of us will come down and help.

Let us know how you like your trip up here. :)

One of the times I went and this was probably 20 years ago (shut up), we stayed at a place in Jasper I think but could be wrong and it was a hole, not a good hole. I distinctly remember the shower, I am 5’4” and the shower head came to about the bottom of my neck. I realize people have gotten taller and bigger but as I said I’m 5,4”, I don’t know if it was a former midget hotel or what but it’s just one of those things you never forget.

It has a stand that you can pull up and helps you hold on while you cast. It also custom made with a trolling motor in the back with a wireless remote. It was fitted for a pontoon boat.

Day 1 - View from Hotel on Lake Hamilton near Hot Springs which we visited last night. Very nice atmosphere and the weather was as cool as spring in South Louisiana!!

The people so far have been very nice but the gas station had a slight meth vibe like from the show Ozark on Netflix.

Don't worry, that's just the meth.

That is a gorgeous view.

I happen to love visiting South Louisiana but the Arkansas hill country (and Southern Missouri) has some tremendous scenery that is pretty darn hard to top.

We back!! Had a great time on the beautiful state of Arkansas. The locals we met were good people and I am unofficially a junior member of the Hog fan community!!

Spent two days in Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton area.
A real "hot spring" in the HSNP

The view from my room on the White River in the Norfolk area

Bald Eagles were everywhere...this one was in the tree next to our rental on the river most of the time when not soaring.

Spent a day canoeing on the Buffalo River

Spent a day fishing the fast moving White River. Caught a few and had a great time.

Spent a day on Lake Norfolk with a pontoon boat and jet ski...everybody had fun on the lake.
