I admit I do not know or understand the SEC Covid procedures but if Saban has Covid 19, should there not be some players and other coaches in isolation

Depends on contact tracing and test results. If the players are testing negative and have no symptoms, why should they sit out.

No other coach or player tested positive today. Why would they?

You can't test out of contact tracing...

Either Saban has zero contact with his staff and players or Bama is lying.

But I have been told that if you test sooner than 5 days after exposure you can get false negatives

Well if the contact tracing begins with testing positive then I can see how he avoided contact with players. That’s easy. He tested negative the day before so if he gets tested prior to practice and has not interacted with players then they do not have to sit out.

In the protocols I've been around, they go back 48 hours from a positive test.

No, because that isn't the threshold.

He doesn't have 15 minutes straight or more of contact with anyone at less than 6 feet. That's the threshold. Not "contact".

How often is a head coach within 6 feet of any player for longer than 15 minutes at a time, even without social distancing protocols in place?

Do you think someone like Saban has allowed the 6 ft rule to slip through the cracks?

Knowing how detail oriented Saban is he probably has a damn stopwatch and a 6 foot pole when interacting with anyone.

You laugh, but I’d be willing to bet it’s true in some capacity.

Or you don’t know what the actual protocol is for being ruled out through contact tracing.

I mean right? This isn't complicated.

The guy is a detail oriented freak. Anyone who thinks he doesn't have everything laid out and operating specifically to avoid any positive test becoming an "event" is not using their brain.

Doesn't mean players wouldn't slip up some (we had 8 out last week, so I'm sure some did), but the coaching staff? Yea, right.

Said the exact same thing the day the news came out that he tested positive.

From what i understood, the contract tracing would include anyone Saban was within 6ft of for more than 15 minutes. It doesn’t really surprise me that we didn’t lose a lot of players and coaches, as Saban isn’t known for being in one place for a long period of time.

Thats what I meant by zero contact, not absolute zero contact. Sorry

The contact tracing and isolation that the SEC uses is not the same as what science recommends. It is pretty much lip service and why we continue to get outbreaks. But if they followed the other guidelines, we wouldn’t have a season

This is part of why I think all of the protocols we have to deal with in everyday life are dumb. How often are you within 6ft of someone for 15 minutes at a damn supermarket?
