Could they... sure. They could take any other QB if the ownership wanted, but they aren't going to.

Trevor has been so highly touted that you kind of have to take him at this point.
You'd get run out of town on a rail if you pass on him and he plays better than whichever quarterback you take.

I’m the first to point out that Lawrence is probably not as good as people think.
That said his upside is just too good to pass up. I don’t know why he struggled down the stretch the last two years, but the talent is there. His issues are probably mental.

Please stop I doubt he's going to be drafted by the 49ers at this point. Hopefully Carolina or New England picks him up.

I think NE slides up to grab him, unless the 49ers have decided to trade Jimmy G to NE.

Urban is an excellent qb coach and know he could make Mac and absolute superstar but since he's been so vocal about Trevor he can't turn back...I guess.

I've thinking that too and why I created this topic. Clemson played some real dogs and he kept under performing. He looked good against Bama in the NC but looked flustered in the years/games following when he got pressured. It was almost as if he were mailing in performances just good enough to win & finish out his college carrer.
