Could LSU forgo the sec championship game?

Assuming they win 2 of the next 3. Just doesn’t seem like LSU has anything to gain from playing in that game. I have very little doubt Bama won’t make it in as the #4 team. So why does LSU have to risk injury or defeat, when they’ve already proven more this season than any other team. Obviously this LSU team would never shy away from competition. But bama is proving that the SEC championship is irrelevant

Are you stupid or something?

Boycott an SEC Championship? Sounds logical...

This looks like something a Bama fan would post. And they have.

This question is so fricking stupid.

Conference title games are not compatible with the current playoff model. Either expand to 8 so conference winners automatically qualify or scrap conference title games.

If LSU doesn't win the SEC, they aren't getting into the playoff ...

they probably should skip it. the embezzling thing is going to end up seeing all the games from the past 7 years forfeited anyway.

This is precisely the reason why Bama shouldn't even be considered for the playoffs. I personally think we could beat them again.
It's the point that they feel as if they're above everyone else.
That will only ruin the game

I don't think Bama should be considered for the playoff either ...

It's possible LSU calls in sick and skips both the SECCG and the playoffs. They could pull a UCF, throw a parade have a trophy made and call themselves champions based on their 12-0 record.
It seems unlikely though.

Very funny. How Georgia manages to avoid Bama and LSU in the regular season is beyond me

This. They cause more headaches than they're worth at this point.
I'd like to see 8 teams, 5 P5 champs and 3 at large. Hell, go to 10 and give the 1 and 2 seeds byes in the first round.
That would probably get you something like this this year:
1. LSU- bye
2. OSU- bye
3. Clemson v. 10. UGA
4. Oregon v. 9. Minnesotta
5. Bama v. 8. Baylor
6. OU v. 7. Penn State

Good question.
Scott Woodard has forwarded the following message to the Conference:
"LSU is grateful and humbled by the offer to participate in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Georgia. Nevertheless, LSU elects to allow someone less fortunate to participate."

A 6 team playoff would have zero advantages over 8 teams.

High Life. SEC schedules are not random.
Every team rotates playing all the opponents in the other division except for 1 team which they play every year. In UGA's case it's Auburn because they have been a constant rival for over 100 years. In fact it's the oldest rivalry game in the south. Does Bama have an advantage because they play Tenn every year while LSU plays Florida ?
Georgia played LSU last year, next year we draw Bama.
