I've got to disagree with you on the international cache'. Atlanta has enough fortune 500's to pull in global commerce. And it also has the busiest airport to boot. Atlanta isn't New York. But it absolutely is an international city.
I live in a foreign country right now, and I can assure you Atlanta does not have the international cache you think it does, despite having hosted the Olympics. I have literally asked Europeans from various countries to name the first five cities they think of when they think of the US, and not a single one has named Atlanta. Answers always begun with NYC, and typically round up with LA, SF, Chicago and Washington.
And ATL airport being the world's busiest is really more of a function of the deep south not having any legitimate big cities - i.e. almost all regional flights have to be directed through Hartsfield - and the fact that Delta chose it as its hub. If you look at international arrivals, it's barely in the top ten - well behind JFK, LAX, SFO, O'Hare, etc.

Nashville would be the only SEC city option.

Nashville would be like the equivalent of Adelaide, Australia hosting the Olympics. Where?, you ask. Exactly.

you play queer games with foreigners.
of course you're going to get queer answers.
Does 6th qualify as barely in the top 10?

Presently no.

Atlanta is the 9th largest metro in the US. Atlanta's economy ranks 15th among world cities. We have the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the US. Over 75 percent of Fortune 1000 companies operate in the Atlanta metro, and the region hosts offices of about 1,250 multinational corporations.
We're not NYC or Chicago, but Atlanta is most certainly an international city.

It isn't ever happening.
Colleges were put into towns far enough away from big cities that there wouldn't be distractions. Close enough to get enrollees, though.
Each college is too close to a major city.
If anything, the nearby major city would ruin any smalltown chance of winning the bid.

I wasn't arguing against other cities. I was simply saying that Atlanta is a global city.

Well, how do their numbers compare with Fortune 500 and 1000 companies. How many multinational corporations have offices there? I have no idea.
I've heard that the state of Texas is the 8th largest economy in the world, and I know Houston has 4 of the 5 largest oil companies in the world. Dallas has a lot too. Lemme see if I can find out.

According to this we have 52.
As far as DFW:
11) AT&T
123) AMR
124) Flour
137) Kimberly-Clark
152) JC Penney
167) Southwest Airlines
170) HollyFrontier
200) Texas Instruments
207) Dean Foods
272) Tenet Healthcare
272) GameStop
312) Energy Transfer Equity
326) Commercial Metals
357) Energy Future Holdings
368) Celanese
417) Dr Pepper Snapple Group
490) MetroPCS
No idea what Atlanta has, and I know JC Penney is in trouble, and so is MetroPCS, but I would be surprised if the greater Atlanta area has more. Could be wrong though.

How big is the greater DFW area?
I only counted 10 listed by those 2 cities names.
But I admittedly don't know what constitutes greater area.

Atlanta has:
Home Depot
UPS
CocaCola
Delta
Southern
Genuine Parts (NAPA)
SunTrust
Coca Cola Enterprises
Rubbermaid
Norcross and Duluth could be considered Greater Area as they are within 30 minutes of the city limits.
That adds
Rock-Tenn
AgCo
NCR
As was said... it's not a competition to have the most. Just qualifying an international city when you have headquarters for Coke, UPS, Home Depot, and Delta.

6.5 million people in the area
Dallas, Arlington, and Fort Worth form the bulk of it and there are a shitload of large suburban cities surrounding greater Dallas.
DFW wiki
I'd be thrilled if DFW had the Olympics b/c then we'd finally get some light rail out to places like Arlington and Frisco since Jerry World and FCD Stadium would be needed.
Doubt it would happen though.

Irving, Plano, Grapevine and Richardson would be considered part of it.

Nashville would be only city IMO. Unless gata-huntin or gas refining become sports then Red Stick would be only other choice. Oxford could host gay Olympics

The Dart 30 year plan is actually pretty impressive. But I'm pretty sure a part of the Olympic bid is creating the Olympic Village at Fair Park, and then convert it all to modern apartments. Which I would think would be awesome. That part of the city would get a really good jolt.

This is the second time. It was a joke playing on the whole "Missouri is the great white tundra" thing.
Are people so rantified to talk shite on Mizzou that understated humor can't be enjoyed by all involved?

Meh. I mean how many international cities does the country even have? I mean I don't consider Dallas or Houston really international cities, but by whatever metric you use, I would probably place both above Atlanta.
