I mean hosting the whole show and having the city name on the games

The logistics of handling the summer games... I just dont see how any SEC school's city could handle it alone.

Athens is just outside of Lexington but the locals say Aythens.

There aren't enough hotel rooms in any other cities

Agreed. But Nashville can just set up a shitload of tents in their new convention center.

New Orleans has some things covered, but would still be a far ways away from being a viable host.

well, Jamaica does have a bobsled team. perhaps they should host the winter Olympics. would make for an odd downhill event, though.

Is this a joke? Houston was ruled out a few years ago as a potential site because, according to the USOC, it didn't have enough international recognition. Atlanta hosting it was pretty much a fluke (not to take anything away from ATL).

There are very few US cities capable of hosting the Olympics. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, and Miami are really the only cities that would have enough international cache to pull off the Summer Olympics.

And Chicago isn't going to try again for a long time after having a great 2016 bid and getting shite on in the first ballot due to anti-American sentiment.

I've got to disagree with you on the international cache'.

Atlanta has enough fortune 500's to pull in global commerce. And it also has the busiest airport to boot.

Atlanta isn't New York. But it absolutely is an international city.

Being that St. Louis has already hosted an Olympics, and that the Commission has asked St. Louis to enter in for the 2026 Games (no chance to get it, but it is worth the shot) I guess we could.
