Could Alabama simply decide not to play in SEC championship?

I know it would never happen but it is silly that they even have to play. They have nothing to gain and every thing to lose by playing.
Has to be a better way. Maybe get rid of SEC championship game and if two SEC teams don’t meet in CFP, declare the highest ranked SEC team in CFP poll the SEC champion.

That's not how sports work here

They take the SEC championship off most years and still make the tourney...

It’s an extra scrimmage to prepare for the playoffs. Why not get the work in?

Scintillating post. Should be placed in the National Archives alongside the Constitution and Declaration of Independence for future generations to gaze at in wonder.

sarcasm? The lack of an up vote says yes.

Sure they could have.
They could have spent more time bitching about conspiracies and rounding up James fricking Carville to blabber on behalf of the University instead of practicing and preparing for an important game.
That way, Bama could have let LSU go to that place in Atlanta, instead.

If Tua is taken off the field in an air cast, this post would make more sense.

Think about this...the conference championship game is somewhat of a SEC gamble with a four-team playoff because you may knock out a sure CFB playoff contender.
But if you expand the playoffs to eight teams, the conference championship becomes a complete liability that will prevent one of your top teams from being included. In that case it makes sense to do away with the game.

LSU isn't going to the playoffs.

Do you know why that is?
Cause Bama can't lose!

I'd read this thread if your username was tig-o-bitties and posted pr0n.
Until then quit posting.

Didn't realize that once qualified as "most years."

If you rearrange all the words and then replaced them with completely different words, it would make more sense too. Let's try my way first and if that doesn't work, you can work on your way. Fair enough?

Well if that happened last year, Auburn would have gone to the playoffs.

Welcome to the concern in 1991 when Kramer created the title game as a cash grab...it hasn't hurt the conference to bad and bama losing wouldn't hurt the conference now.
