Consecutive Seasons with an AP Top 10 Appearance

*Active streaks only...
21- Oklahoma
13- Alabama
9- Ohio State
9- Georgia
8- Auburn
7- Notre Dame
6- Clemson
5- Penn State
3- LSU
3- Florida
3- Texas
2- Oregon
1- Texas A&M
**Wisconsin (4), Michigan (4), Minnesota (1), and Baylor (1) can all continue their current streaks (listed above) if they get into the Top 10 at some point this season... if so, add one more year to those totals above if it were to happen
Pretty unbelievable that Gus has taken Auburn into the Top 10 in every single one of his seasons at Auburn.
Alabama's streak is probably the most impressive considering its 12 consecutive seasons (up until 2020) being ranked #1. Currently sitting at #2 and need to pass Clemson to keep their #1 streak alive.
Oklahoma getting into the Top 10 for 21 consecutive seasons is also very, very impressive.... especially since every one of those seasons has actually been in the Top 7 at some point.

Nice, how many titles does UGA have in the last 9 years?

And somehow manages to finish outside the top-10 almost every time

Maybe you should start your own response thread? This one has nothing to do about National Titles. Crap. Does everything have to be about LSU? Believe it or not it does not cheapen LSU's title last season one bit, so quit thinking everybody is trying to take shots at you.

It cracks me up how BHMKyle is one of the best posters on the board and is always posting interesting stats like this and people still try to troll him.

I'm sure playing Bama, LSU and Georgia every year has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Don't know if I believe the OPs post.

Just for the heck of it, I added the year of the last claimed national title.
quote:
21- Oklahoma (2000)
13- Alabama (2017)
9- Ohio State (2014)
9- Georgia (1980)
8- Auburn (2010)
7- Notre Dame (1988)
6- Clemson (2018)
5- Penn State (1986)
3- LSU (2019)
3- Florida (2008)
3- Texas (2005)
2- Oregon (NA)
1- Texas A&M (1939)

Two Top 10 finishes out of 7 full seasons. While his finish has not always been great (i.e. last season's loss to MN in a bowl game which likely took away another Top 10 finish), only one of his seasons had a Top 10 appearance that was completely due to being overrated in the Preseason (2015)

Just another LSU

This thread has nothing to do with national titles. It has everything to do with Georgia fans finding another meaningless and irrelevant stat to justify their narcissistic view of their program. Until you win a NC, you are not in the caliber of Alabama,Auburn, LSU, Florida or Tenn. Win something of significance this century , let alone the last 40 years. When I look at the stat you posted, I see that it justifies my opinion of your program as an overrated underachiever. Y’all win in Feb and look great during warmups, but damn y’all are soft and can’t win the ones that count.

Off topic, but it had me thinking. Looking at the top 25 this year, if you are a major CFB program outside of the Top 25, or not even truly competitive for the Top 10-15 this year, you may need to reevaluate what you're doing in a P5 football conference.

It'll take more than an NC to be in the caliber of Alabama. In truth, it shouldn't be called the Big Six. It should just be called the Big One. Alabama just lets y'all pretend to be relevant.

Didn't realize this was just appearance... was thinking final poll.
Oklahoma is probably no where near that streak in final polls I imagine.

Here's another stat for you:
Percentage of AP Polls spent in the Top 10 since becoming head coach:
88.8%- Nick Saban, AL (190/214 polls since 2007)
71.6%- Kirby Smart, UGA (48/67 polls since 2016)
57.1%- Dan Mullen, UF (20/35 polls since 2018)
56.9%- Ed Orgeron, LSU (29/51 polls since 2017)
37.6%- Gus Malzahn, AU (44/117 polls since 2013)
2.9%- Jimbo Fisher, A&M (1/35 polls since 2018)
*I did not count Ed O's 2016 games since he was just interum HC and started out in a 2-2 hole that season
