USC just isn’t that Southern Cal of old with that rabid fan base that demands relevance and excellence. They basically biologically can not lose their “blue blood” card perhaps but those fans have apparently died or I have no idea where they went but I am right.

Yes and no. The dirty little secret is that Los Angeles sucks as a sports town. Pro or college they will turn out if you are winning big. Unfortunately, the second you take a step back they will dump you like yesterday's garbage. That is why the NFL has such a hard time keeping a team in that city.

Obviously they have some hard core fans, its a huge city and there are bound to be some, but by and large if you aren't on top of the world they've got no time for you.

It doesn't help their recruiting because while they are sitting on top of a vast reservoir of athletic talent kids want to play in front of screaming fans. Not in a half empty stadium with openly bored people sitting on their hands.
