Revised --

To achieve more competitive games that matter and more opportunities for reaching the CFP --

FBS CFP: Top 8 teams (ranked by committee); final on 1st Sat in Jan, 1st-round 2 weeks prior.

FBS scheduling criteria to qualify for CFP:
1. Schedule 9 in-conf and 3 out-of-conf teams.
2. Schedule 2 P5 vs G5 games, no FCS teams.

FCS TV revenue can replace rent-a-win income. TV revenue shared equally within conferences (Big12 lost Neb, Col, ATM & Miz due to unequal).

Realignments below support rivalries & balance: 14 teams in each P5 conf & 12 in each G5 conf. P5 conf cross-div: 1 fixed; 6 rotational in 2 slots. G5s going to P5 should be able to recruit better.

Div 1A (P5) = 70 teams:

ACC (14) "Atlantic"
N: BC, Syr, Pitt, WVU, VT, VA, MD
S: Mia, Duke, NCS, NC, CL, SC, UCF

B1G (14) "Northern"

W: ND, NW, Pur, IL, Wisc, Iowa, MN

B12 (14) "Central"

S: Tex, Bay, Col, Hou, SMU, TT, TCU

PAC (14) "Pacific"

S: AS, AZ, USC, Ucla, Stan, Cal, SD

SEC (14) "Southeastern"
E: TN, GA, UF, FSU, L'ville, UK, GT
W: UA, AU, LSU, ATM, AR, OM, MS

Div 1B (G5) = 60 teams:

AAC (12)
N: Mass, Conn, Army, Tem, Nvy, Lib
S: WkF, Chlt, Mem, Tulsa, Tuln, USF

CUSA (12)

Conference realignment and playoffs solution

All kidding aside, the media does not want a perfect solution. They love the controversy.

All kidding aside. The media wants more subscribers and viewers. This will promote it.

Back during the last round of conference realignment if you remember there was a lot of talk about creating super conferences and have 60 to maybe 80 something teams join the P5 and then creating another level for the Group of 5 teams left out I think is how it went. It was something similar anyway. It’s been a long time so I may have a few details off. Anyway that sounded far fetched back then but it may not be so far fetched now. I think there is motivation to do something to change the current playoff system up. I keep hearing more talking heads talk about the Group of 5 playing for its own NC. If that happens then something major like super conferences may be a possibility.

This will not create it. Good work. For nothing.

We'll get more of the big Florida, Atlanta and Louisville/Cincy markets.

Per the usual, this leaves the SEC weighted extremely heavily verses the other conferences/divisions. I don't know the proper way to remedy the problem, I'm just saying it's a problem. The other leagues are weak as frick. Like Spurrier used to say, the SEC is the toughest championship to win in all of football most seasons.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if southern schools broke away and played their own league. It would be better football, honestly.

I do think that P5 confs and ND will firm their own Body at some point.

But it won’t be 70 teams. The 5 confs will Add 15 teams from G5 teams to get to 80 total. Basically raiding the AAC (11 teams) plus teams CSU, Boise , BYU, SDSU out west to PAC 12.

5 - 16 team confs.

I just think the DMV is a big market for TV and talent.

You, among others, seem to be missing the key point. The purpose of the proposed solution is to improve the competitive quality of CFB. More quality games that more people will want to attend and watch on TV.

I think a better team for the SEC would be Cincinnati

You create a dream realignment and don’t get rid of A&M?

Not legit. Send them to the AAC where they belong and give us UNC and VA Tech.

Stop with the auto bids for conference champs.

If you have no more than 2 losses, are ranked in the top 10 and your two losses were to P5 teams ranked in the top 25 and you win your conference, fine.

No 9-3 team, ranked 25, with a loss to Memphis needs to sniff a new years 6 bowl much less a playoff spot. Put the BEST teams in. The bcs and playoffs made conference championships irrelevant because it takes your LOSSES into account as much as your wins. If u want conference championships back go back to the old bowl tie ins. If winning your conference gets u in automatically, I'm sitting my starters for ooc games. If winning your conference automatically gets u in then I'm sitting my starters after I clinch the division.
