“Conference foe” despite playing once every 4 or so years?
Posted by Atlbear16

Why does the SEC only schedule 8 conference games and how is that fair compared to other conferences playing 9?

Are you ever not crying about the SEC?
quote:likely to remedy that soon
Why does the SEC only schedule 8 conference games
quote:Because their 8 are harder than other conferences that play 9 (generally speaking).
how is that fair compared to other conferences playing 9

Does it matter? In the biggest games against other conference’s best teams over the last 20 years, the SEC wins the vast majority of them.

because when we had 12 teams it worked perfectly fine.

well, our league is much more difficult than others so I don't really GAF if other conferences choose on their own to paly more conference games.

Because their 8 are harder than other conferences that play 9 (generally speaking).
Georgia has played A&M once since A&M joined the conference in 2012, (1 out of 11 years) the same number of times Georgia played Texas.
Georgia has played LSU twice since 2010 in the regular season (2 out of 13 years)
Georgia and Alabama have played each other in the regular season three times since 2008 (3 out of 15 years)
That is not even once every 4 years for Georgia. Texas played 3 out of the four in the last 4 years.
Georgia has only played one regular season game against either Alabama, LSU or Texas A&M every other year.
The SEC scheduling is the worst in college football, and it's not even close.

The problem isn't the 8-game schedule, it's the permanent cross-division rivalries, particularly the fake ones.
When AnM plays USCe every year in a fake rivalry, that leaves only 1 cross-div game a year for them. Same with UGA vs Auburn (but it's a real rivalry) That's why it takes 11 years for UGA and ANM to play.

I Think its because the powers to be behind the SEC is smarter than the other conferences. The proof of that is in how many championships the SEC has Won!

Saying something isn't "fair" in this argument just makes you look like a crying arse pussy.
If you don't like it, leave or move on.

UGA has played and beaten 5 currently ranked teams. Who in the big 12 has played more?
