3. Tennessee. Some call them one of the "Big Six". Not me. I think it's now the "Big Five" or another team could step up in the next ten years. Tennessee year after year has been hyped up by the media and have ultimately bombed. Their last SEC Championship appearance was in 2007 thanks to them beating Kentucky who Tennessee has beaten every year but one time since 1984. They haven't won a SEC Title since last century. And to top it off they haven't defeated Alabama since 2006. Which as we know Alabama just embarrassed Tennessee in Knoxville this past season.
Hyped every year? This is how I know you're a fricking idiot, and therefore, your post has zero credibility

Winning begets winning. Any name program is only one home run hire away from being right back on top.

Notre Dame is located in South Bend Indiana, just south of the Michigan State line. Not an ideal location to recruit.
Not only the above, but:
For a long time, every Catholic from here to the Soviet Union rooted for ND...and Catholic dads' dreams saw their sons playing in front of Touchdown Jesus.
Not so much now. Worshiping Notre Dame...just because it's Notre Dame...has really faded.

Nebraska is only answer. And Tennessee is not a powerhouse like Nebraska or notre dame was

I remember one of my Catholic school teachers...himself a Notre Dame grad...preaching the wonders of South Bend.
This was a tough sell in New Orleans to kids who grew up die-hard LSU Tigers fans.
I can imagine it went over better in other areas though.

Wasnt Aggie a powerhouse D back when they played in the SWAC?
We know that will never come back

Texas
Ole Miss
Nebraska
Notre Dame
Minnesota
UCLA
All are somewhere on the timeline to has-been status. Ole Miss and Minnesota are the furthest along it. It will be interesting to see if PJ Fleck can elevate the Gophers. Texas may have finally turned the corner and be coming back. UCLA, Notre Dame and Nebraska are all at the point where if they don't turn it around soon, and I mean before this decade is over, they join Ole Miss and Minnesota.

Every powerhouse goes through down periods. Nebraska will be back. Count on it.
Demographics are killing high-school football in the state. I don't believe the Huskers can thrive without those corn-fed Remington Trophy candidates they used to have flocking to Lincoln every year to carry on the tradition.
Their era has ended.

Texas may have finally turned the corner
Based on what exactly?
When they returned in 1998, Oklahoma and LSU were still down and A&M, their only real regional competition, was on the downslope.
Baylor, Houston, and TCU were PUTRID, as was Oklahoma State.
Now they have to fight off a Baylor program which, while it won't return to the pre-rape days, can still be as good as the Grant Teaff years, a TCU program in its prime, an Oklahoma State program in its golden era, and an Oklahoma team who has never had a losing season under Bob Stoops.
Texas Tech is worse off than it was in 1998, but that's it.
Not to mention they have to fight off two SEC programs who are clearly better than them (A&M, LSU) in their own backyard as well as the wizard at Kansas State and Kevin Sumlin's best recruiter ever (head coach of Kansas).
Oh, and Houston and SMU aren't half-bad either.
Plus, did I mention that quality defensive players in Texas are few and far between due to the current culture of Texas H.S. football?

3. Tennessee

Lmao VOLS have more wins, SEC Championships, consensus all Americans, draft picks and bowl appearances than any SEC school besides Alabama.
If LSU can retain Big 6 status after going 58-65 from 1989 to 1999, then Tennessee is in the clear here
Call me crazy but 2002 is a long, long time ago.

Penn State could contend again.

I actually believe as BIG Champion last year Penn St deserved the spot more than Ohio State
