It's a monopoly because it's rigged to benefit you instead of other teams. You guys had no business getting in over okie state or 2017 . at least with this you have you win a couple more games

Might just be a ploy to allow ND or OU to win a playoff game

Well bowl games already became irrelevant. Kids sat out of the Orange Bowl last year. Can’t blame them but still sad to see.

RIP rivalry week. Teams in contention will rest players for the playoffs

You think, for example, Alabama would rest players versus Auburn and run the risk of losing a 1st Round Bye plus traveling to a Northern School in December? I dont see it.

I'm more in favor of a top 6 with 1 and 2 getting byes but this works too. Pretty much ensures you get a couple of G5 teams in each year.

Good it’s time to break up the cartel and embrace competition! UCF’s plight was the straw that broke the monopolies back!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the power 5 conferences that kept getting left out were more of an influence than the likes of UCF. LOL

After a meeting today, a release is coming based on a recommendation for an expanded playoff.

Release: We are looking into expanding the playoffs after this sweet TV contract expires in 2025-26

Absolutely. #1 Alabama vs a 6 win Auburn team. Bama is a top 4 seed regardless if they lose that game or not. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

It will be just like the end of the NFL regular season

Appreantly you don't understand the rivalry then.

Nope, but not easy to do when your school can’t afford to hand out blank checks to hire dozens of analysts and build football factories (all equipped with record studios and barber shops).

Honestly the First Round sounds like a lot of fun

#5 vs #12
#6 vs #11
#7 vs #10
#8 vs #9

Of course the next round will routinely feature blowouts and make the 1st round feel like a waste of time

What will be interesting is when the 4 highest ranked conference champions aren't the four highest ranked teams.

Yep, Tulsa and Memphis are a pretty mean cartel

The 4 highest-ranked champs get a bye

So Notre Dame will never be eligible for a first round bye?

I like it.

But then Bama has to deal with a presumably top-ten SEC East Champion who is also fighting for a bye and/or home playoff game. Bama loses that and suddenly they are the #9 seed and have a much tougher path

RIP college football. If they’re going to continue on the direction they’re going in, they need to just have a Power 5 league. Bowl games are going to become super irrelevant

They already are irrelevant.

You have players opting out of bowl season now unless they are in the playoff games.

This actually makes more bowls means something, not less.

People just don't like change.
