Not sure why college baseball gets so much hate here.

college baseball is fantastic.
It is, I like it better than the pro game for sure.
But, you can’t say it’s a big 3 sport; when 300+ Div 1 schools operate in the Red in it.
Just because you like it doesn’t make it Big anything.
With that logic there are schools that have a larger following in hockey, soccer, Lax, water polo… etc etc.. are those Big sports? Absolutely not!! They also profit as much money as Baseball programs do for 99% of the schools.
There is basically 1 BIG sport, football. Then Mens basketball is profitable. Everything else is fun to watch.

Pretty sure? I mean we were turning profits for decades before Ole Miss ever did. Not trying to be rude but c'mon man.

Ole Miss “Champions of Baseball” LOST $2.275M last year. The only sport that lost more was their Women's basketball at $4M.
While the ADept as a whole broke even at $98M; this I’m sure was by choice and the profit was turned into expenses with improvements and raises , which is fine and completely acceptable.
But you can’t be a Big sport when your Champ loses $2M+.

MSU was revenue neutral at $3.4M
LSU Lost $1.9M
Understand some of this is by choice with raises and improvements; and operating at a loss isn’t a bad thing. But the Adept for LSU showed a total profit of just under $5M; MSU was just over $1.5M

Plenty of champion basketball schools have run deficits the year they won titles. This is a stupid way of determining what is and isn’t a big sport.

LSU didn’t have full capacity (COVID) at their baseball games until late in the 2021 baseball season. That crushed their fiscal year. They only had 9 home games allowing full capacity that season. Baseball everywhere relies a lot on attendance revenue. They’ve generally been ~$500k in the black for baseball. You’re not going to get a great read of the financial health of ADs looking at the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 fiscal years. The AD was profiting $56 million the year prior to COVID, baseball being just shy of $500k, which was more than mens basketball
Whoever downvoted, sorry you don’t like objective facts

You’re a fig if you don’t like college baseball

Most don’t even realize wrestling is even a sport in college. This is dumb. Tons of talent comes out of college baseball. Hell LSU has two notable names in the World Series.

Is UGA bad at baseball? I honestly had no idea.
Is your theory that if UGA was good at baseball, then I would dedicate hours to watching college baseball?
That theory is incorrect, sir.
Baseball is the most dull team sport - adapting it to college does not enliven it whatsoever.
Enjoy your irrelevant college sport. Nothing else to do in Louisiana, I suppose.

College baseball is great. Keeps my football withdrawal from getting out of control.

No it is not!
Most baseball programs don’t even offer full rides to all its players. You have 1/4 scholarships and 1/3 and 1/2. Football and basketball are full rides. It’s that simple.
You also can’t claim we a a title in a made up “Big 3”. Just because you like that sport. Something has to make that sport Big.. nationally.
Baseball simply isn’t and doesn’t do that.

So I’ll accept your Covid reasoning for LSU, Ole Miss, and MSU. They obviously have the most passionate fan bases in the SEC, when it comes to baseball. However, you make my point. Even at full capacity and every thing perfect, they might; make a profit if 500K. Maybe!
That doesn’t make your sport Big anything. I’m sorry it just doesn’t.
Why does this matter?
Revenue sharing is coming in football and Men’s basketball. Something is gonna give somewhere.
When it all comes down to it, you need to make money. Baseball is just another college sport.
Want proof?
Go to ESPN s site. There is a dedicated page , all year , for NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS, NCAAF, NCAAM, NCAAW…. There has to be one for College baseball right? Since it’s a BIG sport!
Nope it’s on the page College Sports. Just like gymnastics, softball, and volleyball.
It’s fine that you love it. I love it! I’ll watch a college baseball game a lot faster than an MLB.
You just don’t get to claim a Big sport title any faster than a school with a Lacrosse one does!

Well, yeah. The NCAA doesn’t allow you to offer full rides for all players.
You are allowed 11.7 scholarships to be split between 35 players.
You know, so we can be fair to girls and all.
If allowed, I’m quite certain LSU, and some other schools would offer 35 scholarships.

In the 2021 fiscal year, Ole Miss baseball brought in $2.8 million. I saw where you had found that -2.275 figure from (collegefactual.com), and I kind of call bullshite on those numbers. Unless I'm missing something, the University hasn't released the numbers for the 2022 fiscal year (since it's still ongoing).
Basketball is not a money maker - we suck at basketball, and have always been bad at bouncy-ball.
Here's also a good article that looks at how much conferences/teams actually invest in baseball:

Want proof? LSU baseball made more money in the last real fiscal year than basketball did.
Baseball is, without question, a big sport in this conference and in this region. I’m sorry your school isn’t good at it

As they would in Hockey, LAX, Soccer, T&F, Swimming, water polo.., it goes on and on.. you aren’t the only sport effected by title 9..
Is Football? Is Basketball? Of course not. They award those and use the rest to comply..
That’s proof , right there.

Fine it’s a Big sport in 2 states! That does not make it a big sport in the other 48. Hence you are not a Big Time sport!
