Honestly? probably nothing. All I can figure is we get credit for recent results. Is it fair? No. But Alabama gets the benefit of the doubt all the time. 2011, 2017 just for starters, but if I put my mind to it I could probably come up with more.
Sometimes the benefit of the doubt becomes justified and sometimes it does not. But when all is said and done it typically works itself out.
