Before Dabo Swinney's tenure, Clemson was 30th nationally in all time rankings, behind such luminaries as TAMU, VT, Colorado, GT, and Az State. Compare this to the other teams in the playoff hunt, only Oregon and Utah have less cache. And this is despite the ACC being trash before FSU's arrival.

History shows that any success the Clempson football program has had is soon followed by probation. In fact their fan group " Iptay" means " its probation time again y'all "

UF was nothing before Spurrier showed up. I hate Dabo with a passion, but he has built a program where he can sit back and play cheerleader, soak up the fame, and let his coordinators take them to titles in the easy ACC. The place is to the point it recruits itself. I hate the guy, but that program may be successful for a while, at least until a challenge comes for SC, or the ACC

Look out how they're recruiting and look at the conference they're in. Clemson will be in the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

I imagine Coach O would not agree with you. Clemson is peaking at the right time; regardless of their schedule, they have elite talent and probably the best DC in the game right now. Disregarding them would be a mistake...

Probably, but the point is that people are acting like they're this perennial power, which historically is not true. They are nouveau riche

Flash in the pan would not correlate with 4 straight playoff seasons.

Well, if they are nouveau riche then list the programs that are blue blood, old money and still relevant in today's college football.

And by " the place is to the point where it recruits itself " you mean " if you have a car wash we will buy it for over the amount it is valued". Just ask Xavier Thomas.

Reminds me of Texas fans. Start losing again to their shitty high school teams they schedule, and POOF, they gone like a fart in a whirlwind.

In the top 15 currently, I'd say that only Wisc, Oregon, Utah, Baylor and Minny have less of a leg to stand on historically than Clemson. Maybe Wisconsin has more though, not sure

Every program has to start somewhere. Stars aligned for them by hiring Dabo, being in the ACC with FSU declining and Miami well being what Miami has always been when not cheating.
