I think Clemson can be had. This isn't because of their schedule. It's just from watching them closely. Here's what I see.

Lawrence has an amazing arm. However, he has trouble with pressure, consistency, poise,
and decision making. The staff does a great job of protecting him with scheme (plenty of single read & single option stuff, and isolating the superior receivers to have him throw it up for them) , but a squad with the secondary to cover and a semblance of organic pass rush will em give him trouble. Mark my words.

Keep in mind he and the receivers are supremely well coached. If you blitz they know the hot routes and win 1v1 battles and will burn you consistently. However if you can cover and force him to go through progressions and make decisions - especially under organic pressure - Lawrence will give you the ball.

I have literally never seen their run game stopped. It's the core of that offense, though. Stopping it could be disastrous for them, but can it be done?
...

Their D will have trouble getting organic pass rush against a decent line, and a QB like Burrow will pick them apart if they rely on the blitz.

Their linebackers are for real. Their receivers are for real. RB is for real. Corners are for real.

Coaching staff is the best in the country.

Their O-Line is overrated. QB is supremely talented physically,
but currently overrated mentally. D-Line isn't overrated; they just need a bit of work.

X-Factor is Dabo and that staff. If not for them I'd pick Clemson as the fifth best team in the country.

When it's all said and done another Acc team (Clemson) will be crowned champions again and that will make it 4 out of the last 7 championships for the ACC. Not bad for a conference that is supposed to play bad football.

Why are you "studying Clemson" as a genuine bitch mutt? Your chances of playing them this year are slim to none.

But then again, UGA is used to being used, might even crave it at this point, gimp?

The ACC honestly doesn't get enough respect. Here is how the conferences look since the playoffs began:

In 2018, ACC sent 11 teams to bowls - same number as the SEC. The B1G sent 9, Big 12 sent 7, and Pac 12 sent 7.

In 2017, the SEC and ACC each sent 10 teams bowling. B1G, Pac 12, and Big 12 sent 8.

In 2016, the SEC sent a record 12 teams to bowls. ACC sent 11, B1G sent 10, Big 12 and Pac 12 only sent 6.

2015, SEC sends 10, Pac 12 and B1G actually send 10 this year, with the ACC right behind them at 9. Big 12 sends 7.

2014, SEC sends a record 12 teams to bowls again, ACC is right behind them with 11. B1G is at 10, Pac 12 is at 8, Big 12 is at 7.

So, the ACC is obviously deep as far as quality football teams go, second only to the SEC most years, and the only other conference besides the SEC to have 11 teams go to a bowl. Of course, the Big 12 is the only conference with fewer than 12 teams, so it's noted they're at a slight disadvantage, but that's their own fault for being a shitty conference that caters too much to Texas and drives teams away.

The problem is everyone notices that the ACC has a lot of good/average teams, but very few great/terrible teams. The SEC saw five teams win 10 or more games last year. The ACC only had two. In 2017, the SEC only had three teams win 10+, but the ACC once again had two. The ACC and SEC each had two in 2016, but it's worth noting that Florida had a canceled rent-a-win that would have given them 10 for a third. SEC has four in 2015 with another canceled rent-a-win for a fifth, and the ACC has only three. In 2014, it's four and three in the SEC's favor.

So it looks like most wins against the ACC are quality, but you're not really beating anyone elite most years outside of Clemson.

I'd give the B1G the nod over the ACC this year, but I think most years, the ACC as a whole is the second best conference overall, and seems to have the best team overall about every other year. The ACC and SEC are both of a southeastern footprint for the most part, so it really drives home the stranglehold the south has on football.

Neck bearded? That’s pretty low...

In regards to the OP....

Of course they can. From a Clemson fan, how to beat Clemson.....

Run the ball successfully. It starts there. We have the best back 7 we’ve ever had at Clemson. I think we currently lead the nation in pass defense. The only QB that I am worried about at all throwing against us (with Tua out) is Burrow. But he better be on point, the windows will be TIGHT. More likely to beat us with a running game that can eat the clock. Don’t fall behind. Get a lead and eat the clock to shorten the game.

For your D, stop our running game. It can be done. Make Trevor check down. He HATES to do that, and he is not especially accurate dumping the ball short. Get pressure without blitzing. Trevor loves it when you blitz, he eats that alive.

Our Kicking game is marginal and our punter wouldn’t start for most large high schools. He is that bad. Trade us 50 yard punts for our 30 yard punts. For every 5 punts you will get 100 free yards!

North Carolina showed the blueprint. Mack Brown is no idiot.

Dude, you will be the 3rd or 4th best team in the playoffs. That is, if you don’t shite the bed between now and then. Climpson gonna Climpson.

I seen ya Jim. Probably shouldn't sound like an inbred hick when calling others inbred hicks. Great effort though! It's a shame you'll vanish after Clemson gets smoked.

I think Trevor has done better checking down since the Louisville game but you can tell he still hates it. I think what hurts him checking down is that we don’t have a good receiving TE like in the past and a great slot receiver like Renfrow.

Burrow is great against the blitz...but Venables is very good at disguising where the blitz will be coming from. Will be an interesting matchup if LSU and Clemson face each other...

Maybe, but I doubt it. He is not a top 4 QB right now, and from now until the day he retires from the NFL I don't he'll ever be better than Justin Fields. The two are comparable physically, but Lawrence is simply not close the same level mentally.

I'd pick OSU to beat them 9/10 games right now. The matchup is just awful for Clemson. I think an OSU matchup ends forever the talk of Lawrence being the 1 pick.

LSU & UGA both beat them just over half the time because they can both cover and exploit the Clemson line. I want to say Oregon, but I gotta take a moment to watch that D-Line and running game more closely.

ETA:
*None of this accounts for the coaching factor. If I did that I'd have to admit Clemson gains a real advantage over UGA (Clemson D v Georgia O) and gets even or just a bit better than LSU.

You know what I am going to give you an upvote because you actually put some thought into this and have actually have watched Clemson other than highlights. You have made some logical arguments and not just crying about the schedule, which I wish it was tougher but it’s not Clemson’s job to make NC State good, and hollering but UNC.

There is still a lot of guys who will play on Sunday playing but they are beatable.
