This will happen very soon and the nation will have a fit.
TCU wouldn’t have beaten Bama, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee and probably not ole miss, Florida or auburn which is why the expanded playoffs might actually be a good thing. Weed out the pretenders and actually get the BEST teams in the semi finals and not somebody who won a $hitty conference.

I could be wrong but... expanding is just another money grab by the NCAA.
I know how much I spent in 2010 and 2014 for the Natty run during the BCS. I can only imagine the cost for a 12 team playoff.
I do have SEC Championship game tickets I buy each year but those can be sold easily.
SEC Championship game, 12 team playoff then the Natty will break the bank for the average fan.

Who would you have put in the semis this year to get the BEST teams?

If we had 12 teams instead of four, this wouldn't have happened a single time.

As the old guy I have seen this dog a pony show before in MCBB. They should have stopped at 8 or 16 and done double elimination like college baseball. My personal opinion is the BCS got it right, they were to pick the 2 best and duke it out. I would probably be OK with 4 but use BCS metrics, not a committee. When MCBB went to a committee and post season tournaments (for the added money) it just allowed a handful of people to decide the fates and then they set the narrative for their picks.

We root for Cinderella but to not support it with our dollars. If I want to see a TRUE National Champion there is no way in hell to assure it when you take 12 teams. It just means a lower team gets hot for 1 game and can not sustain it. When it comes to NC's it should be the best vs the best or do not say you are playing for a championship.

What happened in the meantime was a Top team got eliminated early so the survivors got easier teams to play to make easier final games. This was done to provide more games (which meant more money from advertisers) so quality fell but more games could be broadcast, no matter how meaningless.
