Auburn: Report was 'Clearly Flawed'

Auburn worked with the NCAA in investigating the academic fraud, said Jack Smith, the athletic department's director of strategic communications.


GC: Chizik on spice story"This story of 2 young men has turned into indictment of whole football team w/ no facts, indictment of me and how I ran the program."

Chizik: "I've moved 10-11 times in college football. Auburn's been the place for my children. But I understand the business."

Chizik on McNeil alleging racism in report: "Very unfortunate, and I take that to heart. ... I don't know why he said that. That hurts me."


Chizik and Dan Mullen won't hug after this. He once again says Newton saga "started as a Mississippi State problem, became #Auburn problem."

Chizik on Newton: "It started out as a Mississippi State problem, but somehow over the course of 13 months, became an Auburn problem."

Chizik: "Here is something people need to know, Auburn has not had a major violation in 20 years."

Gene Chizik talking about that 2010 national title team: "What are the facts? The NCAA found no major violations."

Chizik on Cam Newton: "What he was able to overcome and really stay focused on, keep his eye on the ball, was simply amazing to me."

Chizik: "The NCAA spent the better part of two years at Auburn and they found nothing."

Chizik on handling of Newton saga: "If you know anything about the strategies of the NCAA, you can't impede the process of investigation."

Gene Chizik calls the Darvin Adams allegation, a "bogus allegation". Said he was proud of Darvin for speaking out.

Chizik, asked about contacting the family, goes back to phone records: "When the police is involved, you don't have a lot of information."

GC: "It's a very unfortunate case for Michael McNeil. He's in a tough place. I can't even imagine what he and his family are going through

Gene Chizik on grade changing allegations: "That allegation is ludicrous. Auburn's response is fact."

Chizik mentions how he's "laid low" the past four months, but "we want to make as big of a splash with the truth as what was accused."
