People laugh but the popularity gap between Men’s basketball and baseball is multiple times larger than the gap between baseball and Softball/WBB. The “big” line has been drawn very arbitrarily

Yes, but none of that makes softball, women's basketball, or even baseball a "major sport"

I get that, but there is a huge drop off in fan support outside of these 5.

Maybe in the Deep South. I imagine lacrosse, hockey, and soccer would have something to say about that in other regions.
