It feels like we are a middle class man in 1998 who decided to invest their life savings into Google stock because it just sounded cool at the time. Now we are rubbing elbows with billionaires and other elites and we don’t know how the frick we got here

I think that’s also applicable to the sport of college football as a whole.

Charter members of the Southern Conference included: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Washington & Lee. Despite an original limit of 16, the membership grew to 23 by 1928.

Southern Conference isn’t the SEC though. It split to form the SEC and ACC and became a FCS conference eventually
