Check in here if Les Miles has rolled out red carpet for your team in 4th qtr

I'll just guess that Les Miles must lead the conference in games where our offense had the ball with a golden opportunity to put the game away and… didn’t. Usually by ground pounding leading to the inevitable punt followed by hoping and praying our defense would stop the other team. Last year alone, the defense bailed us out with INTs in two games.
Here's the by no means complete list:
2015
----
Miss State
nearly blew 15 point lead
2014
----
Notre Dame
5 out of 6 run plays led to punt which gave ND the last possession
Texas A&M
offense got FG instead of touchdown leaving door open for Aggies to win with TD
Alabama
offense gets ball at Bama 6 late in 4th quarter, settled for FG from Bama 22
Ole Miss
3 straight runs leads to punt, defense bails us out with INT on Ole Miss' final drive
Florida
LSU gets ball with 1:49 left: drive goes 3 plays for -4 yards, defense bails out LSU again with INT
Wisconsin
LSU gets ball w/ 6:35 left. 6 plays for 20 yards. All 6 plays are run plays. Punt to Wiscy.
2013
----
No obvious games here that fit the criteria. Though the offense was totally anemic on the final possession against Georgia.
2012
----
Clemson
LSU gets ball up 24-22 with 2:43 left. We proceed to go 3 plays for 8 yards. All pass plays. Punt leads to Clemson’s game winning final possession
Arkansas
LSU settles for FG instead of TD on last possession, leaving game within reach for Arkansas with a TD on final drive. Arky gets 2 shots at end zone from LSU 18
Alabama
LSU gets ball with 7:20 left and a 17-14 lead. 12 play, 53 yard drive stalls out after 3 straight runs. Missed FG leads to game winning TD drive by Bama
A&M
LSU leads 24-19. Get ball with 1:17 left and run 3 times for 4 yards, giving A&M ball back with 10 seconds
South Carolina
LSU leads 23-21. Get ball with 1:41 left and run 3 times for 5 yards. Left Carolina 35 seconds. Defense bails out with INT
Auburn
What an abortion of a game. LSU leads 12-10. Offense gets ball with 4:17 left and marched down into red zone then three straight runs leads to missed FG. Auburn has 39 seconds left to win game with FG
Now I will give a lot of the opponents (especially Bama) credit for stingy defense. But anyone who has watched these games year after year can see playcalling has a shitton to do with the trend. Over and over again, our offense is incapable of sustaining a drive late in the 4th quarter to get into the end zone and put the game away.
Granted, LSU won most of these games.
How many games did your team leave the door open the last three years?

In before this turns into a Chavis thread

With Chavis, those opportunities inevitability resulted in losses. With the Steele curtain, they will result in wins.

you spent way too much time trying to make a point......just went way overkill with this

Well, you did it. Congratulations.

I like playing the "how many" game.
How many times has auburn won in Tiger Stadium in the last 75 years?

Other than the 2 losses to Bama, I believe the defense did bail us out just about every time.
ETA: Should have said 2 losses to Bama plus the bowl games against Clemson and ND. All the other games were wins with offensively flaccid finishes.
I looked at 2011 and couldn't find any games where LSU left the door open. All the games were either won convincing or against Bama (where no yards came easy for either team).
But 2012 and 2014 really stand out. And 2015 is not off to a good start. I just wanted some data to support my gut feel that I'm feeling deja vu all over again every time we take the ball late in the game and the other team still has hope.

Well, I don't expect everyone to remember all of our games for the last 4 years or so.
So I provided Cliff's notes.
I'm also curious if other fanbases have similar experiences with their own team.

Add Auburn 2015 in a few days.

I'll take another 12-10 win over Auburn.
I'll just be sure to medicate during the 4th quarter this time.
I watched the State game stone cold sober. Come the 4th quarter, I quickly realized what a giant mistake that was.

No one remembers that sh!t in December...a win is a win...just ask Arky fans if they would swap spots with Aubie fans today. if it weren't for a couple of BS penalties this one would've gotten ugly. Do you remember when we beat OU for the championship in '03? final score was 21-14 but that game coulda easily been 35-7 but who cares?

You really need help if you let a football game make you feel like that.

I agree that its ridiculous. There is no way that MSU should've ever been in that game on Saturday.

I'm completely fine with this. Sucks to be unlucky aggy.

Then what's the point of this thread? It's all about winning the game, no matter how ugly it is.

think that title goes to ole malzahn at auburn

Just for the record LSU is 9-4 in those games. If Les Miles is so horrible why didn't more of those teams win. A win is a win which is and always will be a win. I could go through all of them and explain but for Wisconsin you forgot to mention that LSU punted the ball to make Wisconsin travel the whole field. They went 3 and out and punted back to LSU who then got one first down to ice the game.
