The large Screen and terrace cut into the South Endzone upper-deck is no longer happening which will maintain the uniformity of the stadium and will keep capacity the same.

Update 6/09
Greg Byrne release renderings of some of the changes.
The sports science Center will be added to the South side of the Mal Moore facility next to the weight room entrance.
This coming a year after the nutrion center was finished on the North side. It's now a sprawling compound.
Don't know what the "social areas" of BDS will look like or the new-look video boards.
This remains the coolest feature out of phase 1.

Out is the large student terrace and large scoreboard that was to cut into the south end zone upper deck, according to documents set to be presented Thursday at a Board of Trustees obtained by AL.com. Instead, the proposal calls for replacing the four corner video scoreboards with new ones approximately 60 percent larger than the existing ones.
The cost of this stage of renovations is also going up to $92.5 million from the $75.5 million from the original request.
Work on the first stage of the stadium renovation is set to begin after the 2019 season and be completed by August 2020.
Other changes from the original plan include
-- Putting corner loge box seating at the southwest Level 6 instead of at the south end of the stadium.
-- Building concessions, restrooms, “social spaces” with televisions at the ground level where students enter on the southwest side.
-- Building two new stair towers on the west side for the suites and club levels.
The rest of the plan appears to be the same from the August proposal including building a tunnel from the walk of champions to go straight into the Alabama locker room instead of looping around as it’s currently configured.

Glad they scrapped the large screen. Looked a bit ridiculous to me.

Yeah, BDS's biggest strength was its clean, uniform look that most college stadiums don't have.

Yea, we'll allow yall to share those titles.

Good, that was by far my least favorite aspect of the planned changes. Looked ridiculous.
Plus the idea of idiots up there playing corn-hole while the game was going on just sorta pisses me off.
If you're in the stadium, watch the damn game. The 6 hours of corn hole while tailgating wasn't enough?

Could a Jerry World -like suspended jumbo Tron be placed above the playing field? I still think that needs to be explored.
Honestly,for several reasons:
1. You won't have to turn around away from the field to see it.
2. Equidistant (more or less) from every seat.
3. Would not require major seat removal., Just need the supports that would come from the 4 spiral ramps in the corners.

There is zero chance BDS could handle the weight of a center screen. Y’all are crazy.

I don’t think crazy is the right word.

Good. The original plan with the giant center gap was hideous.

Watching a game at BDS is like sitting in a canyon . Very little view of the sky and almost like sitting in a Dome.

I couldn't make sense of this.
Anyone else?

Pretty simple, now use your imagination . BDS has a steep vertical pitch in the lower bowl area, the upper deck is similar and it has an overhang. Along with the end zone additions, the view of the sky is limited and is claustrophobic . Feels like you are in a canyon. Get the picture?

Sounds like he prefers to look at the sky rather than his football team. I don’t blame him.

I’m digging it. Looks badass

No, I prefer outdoor stadiums over the claustrophobic feel of a Dome. I also like grass over turf, call me old fashion.

Actually it's not very steep at all. The lower bowl spreads more than it is steep. It's actually smaller than the lower bowls of pretty much every stadium.
Also the upperdecks have a curvature which allows it to not be straight up and down, like Jordan-Hare for example.

JHSs upperdeck is offset back of the lowerdeck, which isn't as steep vertically . It allows a open view of the sky at ground level. The views of the field are not as good from the upper levels, but the stadium doesn't dissipate the noise directly up. That is why AUs game noise level rivals that of larger stadiums.
