The four-team College Football Playoff is the biggest running con in the collegiate con game. It has all but ruined the Football Bowl Subdivision

All the best players only wanted to play for Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma. Where’s the fun in that?
I told you MF'ers

Well, your team will just have to try harder.

Well that's just not true.
Clemson has finished in the top 4 once in the last 4 recruiting cycles and OU's highest finish since then is 6. Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and even Texas recruit better than those 2 schools.
It just so happens that Clemson and Oklahoma play in shitty conferences and have an easy path to the final 4. This eliminates that.
ETA: Even Ohio State often has an easy road to the playoffs. There's usually like 4 SEC teams a year that could compete with anyone in the country. We cannibalize ourselves. That's why the 12 team playoff is a much needed addition. (Could be 8, but you definitely need more than 4).

then it became apparent that a larger playoff field was the only thing that could hopefully correct what the greedy Power 5 conferences had done to the game.
The Power 5 built the game

This sounds like something from the democrat's playbook!
It's called lowering the bar.

You're just now noticing this?

Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St … and Oklahoma

The BCS wasn't any different.

When will you people realize that it's less about the CFP and more about Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney. This is what the national championship picture would have looked like had the BCS continued on into the present day:
2015 BCS National Championship
#1 Alabama
#2 Florida State
2016 BCS National Championship
#1 Clemson
#2 Alabama
2017 BCS National Championship
#1 Alabama
#2 Clemson
2018 BCS National Championship
#1 Clemson
#2 Oklahoma
2019 BCS National Championship
#1 Alabama
#2 Clemson
2020 BCS National Championship
#1 LSU
#2 Clemson
2021 BCS National Championship
#1 Alabama
#2 Clemson
Alabama and Clemson are head and shoulders above the rest of college football right now. That has to do with recruiting and player development. When it comes to those two things, there are no better coaches in the game right now than Saban and Swinney. Parity will remain as it is until both coaches have packed up and left town for retirement.
