Without changing the formula at all... but adding up the points just from 1998-2018 (BCS/Playoff Era), here is what you get:

Clearly, COllege Football can be broken down a few different ways historically. If we want to look at the modern era, I think you have to consider three logical starting points.

1. 1970 - when the top teams started to become racially integrated

2. 1984 - when NCAA vs. Oklahoma Board of Regents broke up the limits on TV broadcasts and set the table for today with widespread coverage of games on ESPN, etc...

3. 1992 - the SEC championship game starts the playoff era shortly thereafter spawning the BCS and CFP

Also, the awarding of 3x the points for #1 vs #2 finish seems to overvalue the difference, particularly prior to the BCS game.

Clemson’s issue will be durability. After Dabo retires or leaves or Father Time catches up, what happens. It’s noy like they are a historical program. Not a shot st yen they’re great now.

That would be like looking at Lsu from the late 80s thru 90s. Post 98 thru the SEC move was of our worst eras.

Damn right y’all will. Mullen will hopobeat the ever living shite out of FSU on an annual basis. I despise those people. The whole damn Disney trip all they talked about was the “pedigree” of Florida state. shite got old quick.

Somehow this is soothing, now to once again be there in real world time instead of 123 plus. That’s not even a big initial ask... come on, tides turn sports gods. We are due some improvement, please.

You can't make this up, folks.

You go down 1 point for each place lower.

1-75
2-24
3-23
4-22
5-21
6-20
7-19
8-18
and so on until you get to:
22-4
23-3
24-2
#25-1

But that still is over valueing finishing 25th relative to 2nd or 3rd, for example. We have to distinguish a top 5 finish from a lowest quartile season. I think you also need to account for conference championships and bowl games in this rather then just rank as well.
