CBS 2:30 games fairly easy to project for rest of the year

With CBS opting for Ole Miss at Alabama in Week 5, it makes the rest of their season schedule fairly easy to project:
Week 6: Auburn at Florida
I would be very surprised to see this game not picked... even if Auburn were to lose this weekend in College Station. the only other option is Georgia at Tennessee, and with the Vols early season struggles, I can't imagine CBS going that direction.
Week 7: Alabama at Texas A&M or Florida at LSU
This is the one tough week to project. CBS will certainly use their 6-day option on this one to see who wins between Auburn and Florida the week before. If somehow Florida remains unbeaten, I don't see how CBS can pass up a battle of unbeatens between Florida and LSU. However, if Texas A&M gets past Auburn this weekend, an unbeaten Bama going into College Station to face 5-1 Texas A&M is also a real possibility. Those large Texas markets are ratings gold for CBS when the Aggies are strong. I think if either Florida or LSU has a loss by then and Texas A&M only has one loss, CBS might actually head to College Station.
Week 8: LSU at Mississippi State
If CBS passes on LSU-Florida in Week 7, then it will for sure go this direction in Week 8. LSU will likely be 6-0 at this point. The other option is Tennessee at Alabama, but I think this is the year CBS finally picks another game. The last two seasons, the TSIO rivalry has given CBS lackluster ratings of 2.6 and 2.8... and with Tennessee being so bad this year, I think they opt towards LSU-MSU unless the wheels completely fall off of Mississippi State
Week 9: Auburn at LSU
This one is likely a lock. I can't see any other game with a chance.
Week 10: Georgia at Florida
Also a lock.
Week 11: LSU at Alabama
A certainty.
Week 12: Georgia at Auburn
Pretty much a lock
Week 13: Texas A&M at Georgia
Also a lock
Week 14: Alabama at Auburn
Obviously
Like I said, week 7 and week 8 are really the only weeks left with any question mark.

if they were to pick up Florida-LSU I can't imagine them wanting LSU-Miss State. CBS isn't going to want the same team 3 weeks in a row.
Is the Ole Miss-Alabama game for certain?

Week 14 could depend on where auburn is in the standings. If they have 4 losses they might look around

VOLS - DORES are snagging that week 14 slot and there’s nothin you can do about it

It was a night game in 2014 so I’d expect the same this year

VOLS had 4 straight CBS games and a 5th at the end of the year in 2016 so I don’t think there’s any hard cap on it

Tennessee may be coming into that game 1-5. I don't see any scenario in which they're better than 3-3. There's no way CBS wants that game.

Really hope Florida @ LSU is at night

CBS can pick each team up to 5 times a year. However, CBS had Bama six times in 2015 beacuse they bought the Iron Bowl from ESPN.

Yes, this one has been picked now.

Yes, but I think CBS has got to be frustrated with Alabama-Tennessee and the ratings it's been pulling in recent years. It used to produce higher ratings just because of the rivalry, but that's not the case anymore
2015: 4.3 rating
2016: 3.9 rating
2017: 2.8 rating
2016: 2.6 rating
In 2014, it also only produced a 2.6 rating so in 2015, CBS opted for another game in its place.
If Tennessee comes in to Tuscaloosa with a 1-5 record (as will be most likely), how can CBS even consider airing that game in the main afternoon slot?

It's very unlikely. Texas A&M at LSU is the only other possibility, but I doubt A&M's record will be much better than Auburn's at that point.
And until the Iron Bowl produces a bad rating, CBS is unlikely to look away.
The Iron Bowl in most years is the biggest draw of any SEC game.... even bigger than LSU-Alabama despite a cleared deck of no other SEC games on TV and a primetime network slot.
2013:
ALA-AUB: 8.2 rating
ALA-LSU: 6.9 rating
2014:
ALA-AUB: 7.4 rating
ALA-LSU: 5.3 rating
2015:
ALA-AUB: 5.3 rating
ALA-LSU: 6.4 rating
2016:
ALA-AUB: 4.5 rating
ALA-LSU: 5.8 rating
2017:
ALA-AUB: 7.6 rating
ALA-LSU: 3.9 rating
2018:
ALA-AUB: 5.1 rating
ALA-LSU: 6.6 rating
Average rating for the past 6 years:
ALA-AUB: 6.35 rating
ALA-LSU: 5.82 rating
Like I said earlier, LSU-Alabama has a built-in advantage since every single one of their games above was played in Primetime on a network with the rest of the SEC games finished for the day.... but even with those built-in advantages, the Iron Bowl has been the bigger TV draw.
The last time CBS passed on the Iron Bowl was in 2014. The reason? They goofed up and picked Alabama too many times, causing them not to have an option of airing the Iron Bowl in the final week of the regular season. What happened? They were forced to air the Egg Bowl which produced a poor rating of 3.1 while the Iron Bowl shifted to ESPN. ESPN walked away with a blockbuster 7.4 rating, which I imagine is the highest rating a regular season game airing on ESPN has hit in at least the past decade.
Whoever at CBS made that mistake should have been fired.
I can't imagine anyone at CBS wanting to make that mistake again. Until the Iron Bowl produces a sub 4.0 rating, it will continue to get that slot.

Isn't CBS required to have every team televised at least once over a two year period ?

There is some clause about that, but I think its something like once every 5 years.
They get around this in two ways:
1. Arkansas vs. Mizzou is usually the Friday after Thanksgiving, so that takes care of those two
2. There is always one week where CBS gets a double-header with an 11:00 AM CT game and a 2:30 PM CT game..... they'll often pick a crappier matchup for that early slot to help get a team like Vandy or Kentucky on the network
The other teams are usually selected by airing an early season Bama game.... case in point: Bama at South Carolina this year. South Carolina gets checked off, so they don't have to air them for a few more years if they can't find a decent week to put them on.

Man Gary is going be sad seeing Bama so little.

The sec schedule this year outside of Bama aTm is very back loaded. Next year will be worse I think if I remember correctly.

Auburn will be 5-0 when they come to Florida. 5-1 when they leave.
