It may have been bush league or not, idk. I thought it was dumb but my jimmies aren't that rustled over it.

The first thing I thought about when it happened though was when Manager Billy Heywood and the Twins did it to Ken Griffey Jr.

It is "bush league" to me because it's cheap, shows a lack of confidence, looks really stupid, and is something that isn't done at the highest level.

So triple option and spread attacks before the last 5 years were bush leage?

I missed the post-game. Did Manuri call UCLA classless? He is such an expert on calling teams classless.

The guy who mentioned it in this thread is confusing Miami's '82 championship win over Wichita State with LSU's '91 championship win over Wichita State

You're wrong, Skip called for it in the '91 final and it worked.

Sorry.

I think that "Busch league" is technically correct too because it was what they called some NASCAR knockoff back in the day or something.

No.

The series you're thinking about wasn't a 'NASCAR knock off', it was 100% NASCAR.

NASCAR's the organization, not the series. Just like MLB, they sanction competitions at various levels from the top (Sprint Cup) all the way down to the local short track level (currently called the Whelen All-American Series).

What was once called the Busch series (now known as the Nationwide) is basically NASCAR's equivalent to AAA baseball. One step below the bigs.

Definitely bush and a bit embarrassing for UCLA; however, I wish it would have worked for the pure entertainment value.

Didn't watch the game, did it work?

If so,

If not,

Remember, there's no crying in baseball.

So much epic fail in this thread. First world problems abound.

They tried some shite, it didn't work, there is no reason to be upset.

Does this kind of stuff really bother people? Really?

I have no problem with the play. They were trying to get the tying runner out. Good play by the guy on 2nd not falling for it.

And lol at the idiots who think its spelled "Busch"

How many tick plays in baseball work......none.

Technically, following a 92 mph fastball with an 80 mph change up is a "tick" play. You tricked the batter into thinking he was seeing another 92. Is that bush league?

Pretty sure you are wrong. LSU (Skip) called for it in the 1989 CWS, but Wichita State won the title that year. LSU smoked Wichita State in the 1991 title game and didn't need any 'trickery'.

So an Alabama fan had to come in and set me straight on NASCAR knowledge. Who woulda thunk it?

Telling someone they are AAA doesn't seem like such a bad insult. You are still good.

You wouldn't see a head coach go out on the field to argue a call and delay a game in football

Stuff like that

I thought it was a good call with the closer struggling. Odds are it's not going to work but pull out all the stops in a game that big. Props to the base runner for not falling for it.

I don't find it bush league.

For me it's all about winning. If you can win on a trick play like they lucky you.

No different than running a fake field in football or throwing an inbound in off the defenders back in basketball.

They are all little tricks that are within the rules that teams must be ready for.

Not to mention if the game ended like that TigahRant would have be hilarious to read haha
