1 in what’s still voted as one of the top 3 natty games in the history of college football.

Since LSU and Georgia seem to have the biggest mouths up here:

LSU: You won an SEC title in 1970. It took you 16 years before you saw another (1986), and then another 15 years after that before you saw your next one (2001). Since then Bama has been the undisputed ruler of the SEC but LSU finally stabilized as a consistent contender, at least until Kirby went to Georgia.

Georgia: When you won your SEC title in 2017 your most recent had been 12 years prior (2005). You also won in 2002 which had relieved a 20 year drought. Talk about decades of suckage.

Texas has definitely had dry periods. Of course when I was there in the 80s-90s, then we were good with Mack Brown going 1-1 in natty games, then we went through about 8-9 years of suckage. I like where we are now, and being that over half the posts up here are about Texas it seems like the old guard feels threatened.

But it’s all just the circle of life

Your trophy case could use some serious beefing up. That is more of a historical issue. Otherwise, you are just LSU.

I remember their last championship.

I watched it with my father.

He was drunk and they were getting beat handily, so he gave up on it and said they were done.

I told him it's not over until it's over.

He went home and went to sleep.

I called him when it was over to rub it in his face about being right.

How does a program that hasn’t been able to show anything on the Longhorn network since the channel started except the 2005 Rose bowl because that is the last time they won something of significance think they are better than the rest of the best conference in America?

You Phags in Austin are other worldly level of delusional. I mean all that rich boy money Texas has and can’t win shite. But yea yall are better than us

After baseball season they told us conference championships don't matter so we don't even have to concern ourselves with the conference trophy

That is because National titles mean a hell of a lot more than conference titles. Just ask LSU because they just won the natty…. Again.

It’s definitely piling up.

Big oil is the only reason why Texas hasn’t become Nebraska 2.0

It's kind of you to acknowledge it. You didn't have to. We already know it. But it's appreciated nonetheless.

No real argument here. We could use an SEC title or a natty or two to, as you say, beef up the accomplishments in the most recent era.

My point is that all programs go through these periods. Our most recent was probably longer than it should've been but... well it's tough to find the right coach.

I remember the Bama title with Stallings and then there was a huge drop. Like a "what happened to Bama" type of drop. Then Saban came, end of story.

Of course some of that was during Florida's golden era with Spurrier. After a tough drought it now looks like they're finally on the uprise, too. Shrug

UTrans fans have this weird fascination with penises. You all are the biggest cockgobblers in Texas behind A&M fans. Bunch of fricking degenerates

I'm not sure, but I do have it on good authority that the following SEC teams all have more recent national titles:
Georgia
Alabama
LSU
Auburn
Florida

To be fair, those other 4 schools have been in the conference for a combined 28 years, compared to Arkansas' 33 yrs. So far, it's fair to say Texas, OU, Mizzou and TAMU combined are running about even with Arkansas.
so by that same metric, Texas has as many conference title appearances in 1 year as Arkansas, A&M and Oklahoma have in a combined 47 years

Wow, we really have overachieved if that’s the case!

We won the SEC in 03, 07 and 11 and won division in 02, 05.

Get your facts straight son.

I love how Georgia fans pretend like they’ve been winning national titles consistently since the beginning of time when in reality they were in a 40+ year drought before breaking through in 2021

You seem really upset. Who said "we're better than the rest of the best conference?" Seriously, where did I say that.

What I did say is that LSU's (and Georgia's) $hit stinks as much as ours does.

My point obviously went way over your head. Which was that LSU had some major droughts just like Texas, Georgia, and to a lesser extent Alabama. I won't even mention Tennessee, Aggy, Arkansas.

And fwiw, counting division championships sounds very "Aggy". No one remembers who came in second son.

Right. But some of those are very recent. Fans conveniently forget the periods of suck-age. Which over the course of 40+ years were significant for Georgia and LSU.
