2007 LSU was the first team in college football history to defeat 6 teams that FINISHED in the top 15, not 25, top 15 in the AP poll.
That was why you were ranked number 1 going into the championship game which you lost to #2 Bama, making them national champions. Pretty straightforward.

Different year.
He's trying to say they were good because they beat so many ranked teams. My point is everyone sucked that year, so it's not very impressive considering the competition. I mean when the only 2 loss team in the BCS era gets in to the title game, you know it was a really, really down year.

If these idiots expand the playoffs , which is stupid an unnecessary , the entire SEC will probably make the playoffs
Posted on 8/7/22 at 5:29 pm to deeprig9
Wasn't there a scenario a few years back where Ohio State made the playoff over Penn State who had won the Big 10?

With the expansion of B1G and SEC you can almost bet we will see a 12 teams playoff in the future and you will see a 3 loss team in the picture.

Unfortunately a 2 loss team can still be put in the playoffs.

If a 2 loss team wins the SEC Championship game they will be in the playoffs.

It’s really hard to know if they would have put Auburn in.. I think they would have.. however they claim to re-evaluate every week.
They already sets precedent by putting 1 loss OSU non champ in over 2 loss PSU Conf champ.. if Auburn had won.. it would have depended on IF Wisconsin lost still against OSU..
If OSU still wins, then the decision.. probably still would have been; the last spot between 12-2 Conf Champ Auburn and 12-2 Conf champ OSU.
Clemson
Auburn
Oklahoma
Alabama
However, if Wisconsin had won..
then at 12-1 with Conf championships..
Clemson, Oklahoma, Wisconsin. Are locks!
Don’t act like they aren’t., they ARE!
The decision would have been identical to 2016.. 12-1 Bama with a Loss to Auburn vs 12-2 Auburn with a Conf championship.. The 1 loss team got the nod in 2016 even without the title and a loss to the other team. Precedent had been set, It would have come up. ( also remember as it was 12-1 Bama beat out 12-2 Conf champ OSU)
I would think that Auburn would haven’t gotten in.. but the committee has shown they do not like 2 loss teams., they have put 1 loss teams in the playoffs over 8 2 loss P5 champ teams in the 8 years of the playoffs. They are pretty clear on what they like.

Fixed it and here is that never-say-die whiner’s post which just punched your comments right in your drooling, tear-soaked. Oh-no we don’t talk about it except to say “Alabama didn’t deserve to be in that game and it wasn’t fair we should have been champs instead of second place” denying mouth…

Oh yeah…LSU people don’t talk about what happened over a decade ago… oh sure…right… don’t make everyone laugh…

A 2 loss team should never be in any championship conversation. This is why most people who know college ball hate expanding to 8 or 12 or 16 teams with auto qualifiers based on a conference championship. If you are a conference champ and have an 11-1 record cool, if you are 10-2 then you need to look at the other conferences and see if there was an 11-1 team that finished behind a 12-0 team.
If you had auto qualifiers last year Pitt is in. In a 16 team playoff nobody is watching a Pitt-Bama matchup.
People, especially LSU fans, go back to 2011 and say muh, Okie State, conference champs....yea, in a league that Bama or LSU would have crushed every opponent going away. Bama would have beaten Okie light by 4 TD's. People said, muh, UGA got blown out in the SECCG last year. Yea..UGA would have won the ACC, BIG, Big 12, or Pac going away. No, a 2 loss team needs to be in a NY6 bowl, nothing more.

My only problem with 2011, was the coaches poll was part of the equation. Saban had a vote and Gundy did not. That just seems wrong. Saban put Ok St at 4. If he had put them at 3 and Gundy had the opportunity to rank his own team it may have changed the Championship teams.
This scenario is basically why there is a playoff committee and the polls aren’t used. 2011 killed the BCS.

the playoff committee is so dumb that they have put at least 2 or 3 non-conference members in the CFP. the whole system is asinine. conference winners or bust is how it should be.
