Cam Newton is the best player the SEC has had in my lifetime as a fan (circa 2000)

Saw a lot of people with Tebow > Cam slander. Got me thinking, and in my lifetime as a fan (at least in years I can remember), we haven’t seen a player as good as Cam.
I’m not talking about career accomplishments. I’m talking about if you take the best version of a players self while in college, you can’t beat what Cam Newton was.
Tua is incredible, but he also has the benefit of a semi-pro offense around him. He had a first round OT and RB. As well as a 2nd round TE, and another 3rd round RB. He’s got an eventual top ten pick at WR, and 3 other future NFL WRs.
Tebow was great as well, but he also had an nfl team around him. Cam is bigger, faster, more accurate, stronger arm, doesn’t have a 5 second windup to throw. (Again, Tebow has the better career, that’s not the point not what this thread is claiming).
Cam wrecked the whole goddamn league with a bunch of nobodies. He was a one man unstoppable offense, and ran through the SEC when the SEC West was probably at its strongest.
Swap Cam with any other SEC player since 2000, and that AU team is losing at least 1 game, likely 2 or more, and not sniffing a natty.
Instead of the constant DV I’m going to get, tell me one player since 2000 who you would swap with Cam and the Auburn team is better off while the hypothetical team with Cam is worse off. No such scenario exists. I know you want it to be the case ( I do too, I hated Cam), but it’s not.

Cam best player, Tebow best career IMO
If Cam played even just 3 years in the SEC, holy moly

One has to wonder if Bo or Hershel had played under the modern philosophies if they'd of played QB. I definitely think Bo would have been groomed into a Cam like QB.

What Cam did was nothing short of incredible.
Auburn went from 8-5 in 2009 to 14-0 in 2010 to back to 8-5 in 2011 and then capped it off with 3-9 in 2012.

He would be regarded as the GOAT CFB athlete. It’s hard to imagine him not winning at least 1 more natty and/or heisman in two extra years, plus a plethora of records

Broncos
Is this a dig at a guy for winning NFL MVP, then leading his team to a Super Bowl but playing poorly and losing against the same league best defense that destroyed Tom Brady?

One of the single most demoralizing things to watch was Cam Newton marching down the field when we were up against Auburn at home with a good shot to win that game.
We absolutely couldn't stop him and everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going each snap.

From a rushing standpoint I think that was his greatest game at Auburn. It was absurd.
edit: 28 carries, 198 yards, 4 TD's
Just checked and he had 217 yards and 2 TD's against LSU with rushing alone.

We know the feeling. He singlehandedly beat a really good LSU defense in a game that we also could have won... if we could just stop Cam. Never felt so helpless against a single player.
Against Bama, I feel helpless because our line is overwhelmed and the talent everywhere else is better.
Against Auburn, it was just helpless because it didn’t matter if our DL was winning, Cam couldn’t be stopped. Will never forget the 50ish+ yard TD run he had against us where I think he broke a few tackles/got away from a DL LB or two and then beat Patrick Peterson in a foot race down the sideline. Absolutely insane and to this day the most jaw dropping play I’ve seen against a good LSU defense

He was fun to watch. I wish we would have had him for another year or two.

Considering how good that LSU defense was, it was the most jaw dropping play I've seen from a pure talent standpoint in CFB. He ran through, juked, and sprinted past the whole defense.

Every once in a while God gives gifts to people in body types that should not be able to do certain things. Cam is one of those guys.

man that play is like playing NCAA Football on varsity with a created QB with maxed out stats

It was the ultimate deathmarch. 15 plays, almost 14 minutes. Kick a chipshot as time expired. 'Murica.

I can still hear Danielson saying "Oh did he accelerate!! Oh my goodness!!!"

Tyrann Mathieu is the best defensive player in same time frame. Nobody can compare to the plays that dude used to make. He's made plays on the field that I haven't seen before or since. Absolutely amazing football player. Geaux Honey Badger.
