North Al elected to pickup games and play even though their conference shut it down.. they're DivII under the old format they're a big enough school and we'll supported to make a move on up in divisional play. I guess it's a money thing and no. Conference affiliation if they leave the Gulf South Conference.

Btw, last time we played BYU they had a solid OL and I can’t remember their QB but seems he was good. We won by 2 or 3 scores because their defense could not stop our run.

I am almost certain we had Dicenzo Miller as our RB and he rushed all over them the entire game. I can’t remember our other RB but we had a one-two punch and BYU only had two guys with speed who could keep up on defense. But yeah, we had a pretty good defense and their OL was good.

ETA: Found this jewel vs BYU. Had no idea Miller was taped up lol.

This game was scheduled pre-covid. Una moved to D1 in 2018. They are in Atlantic Sun Conf for all sports save football, which is in Big South

Who is #4 if not ND? ...and please don't say aTm or Florida.

I would put them Cincinnati at #5 and BYU at #6 respectively. I haven't been impressed with Texas A&M when I've watched them play and Florida's defense is awful. At the very least, BYU should have been ranked ahead of Georgia, OU, Indiana, and Iowa State.

LSU would beat BYU.

BYU's opponents are currently ranked #41, #50, #82, #92, #96, #98, #107, #108, and #113 according to ESPN's FPI ratings... plus they played FCS North Alabama.

Now ask yourself: How many teams in all of college football would also be 10-0 had they played that schedule?

I'm going to guess around 30.

Why should we pretend BYU is good if they haven't played anyone?

The same exercise could be done for Cincy but for some reason the Committee decided they wanted to pretend their schedule was somehow much tougher.

Cincy has no business being ranked ahead of Northwestern. None.

Absolutely throttling SMU and Memphis was impressive by Cinci. Tulsa is ranked now as well and they'll play Cinci in all likelihood

I try to downvote that comment every time I pass it just in case I forgot the first time.

Best O-line in the country? Absurd.

Notre Dame has clearly gotten faster and more physical over the last 8 years or so. They have NFL pass rushers and NFL offensive linemen almost every year now.

If only we SEC teams could be judged upon our "throttling" of teams currently rated #57 and #67 according to ESPN FPI.

Again... Tulsa is only ranked because they too have had the luxury of beating up on mediocre opponents.

The one time Tulsa ventured outside of the American Conference to play a game, they were defeated 16-7 by 2-loss Oklahoma State.

Why do we say things like, "If Cincinnati can beat Tulsa in a few weeks, they might just prove they are worthy of playoff consideration" when we would never say, "Texas beat Oklahoma State so that means they are possibly worthy of the playoff".

Oklahoma State is better than Tulsa. They beat them on the field. Yet no one blinks an eye when Texas or Oklahoma beats them, yet for some reason the media can't wait to pretend that a win for Cincinnati against Tulsa would be some type of epic resume enhancer.

It's absolutely insane.

Sure. The sports media tells me they are the best team since last year's Utah squad.

Why do so many idiots fall for this every year?

Well, according to your precious FPI, Cinci is 13. They are 10 in SP+. SMU is 14th and Memphis is 23rd in SP+ offense and Cincinnati absolutely stuffed both of them. They did give up some ground to UCF (8th in SP+) offense but got stops when they needed to

I would put them in the top 8, but not top 4.
1. Alabama
2. Notre Dame
3. Ohio State
4. Clemson
5. Texas A&M
6. Florida
7. BYU
8. Cincinnati

But that’s just me.

I’d probably have them a spot or two higher. Way off suggests what? Where would you put them?

didnt they just turn down an opportunity to play Washington this weekend? If they wanted to prove they belong you jump at the opportunity and win the game.
