Buy The Hype For Mississippi State This Year

But the hype. Mississippi State has a chance to win the SEC this year. Here's why:
1. The SEC is a line of scrimmage league.
•We return our RT, RG, C, and LG on our offense line that all started every game last year. We replace our LT, Rankin, with a guy, Eiland, who started 4 games last year, and played in all 13.
•Our defensive line is STACKED. Simmons- will be a 1st round pick. Sweat- returning SEC leader in sacks. Rivers- I've heard he's 2nd best DL on our team behind Simmons. Spencer, Adams, Hoyett, Jones, and Thomas- all very good.
2. Fitz is a top 3 SEC QB
He will chase 1,000 yards rushing this year. His passing will almost certainly improve with better talent around him this year. He's focusing solely on football this year. He will most definitely be improved!
3. Other Players
• At RB, we are very good. Williams is a SEC quality running back. He is not going to blow you away, but he's very good in all areas.
Kylin Hill is absolutely explosive. Every time he touches the football you better watch out for him to take it turn it into a big play. Nick Gibson is a pretty good 3rd string RB too.
•WR will be improved by a long shot. Dear returns. Mixon has experience under his belt. Other returnees play will be improved.
• 9 starters return on offense. Veteran group being led by one of the best OC's in the country.
4. Defense Is Key
•Already discused DL. 2 All-SEC players returning up front.
•LB- Thompson is good. Gay showed out at seasons end. I really like Green. We all know about Lewis.
•Safety- McLaurin and Abram are our 2 leading tacklers from last year. Bryant is improved.
•CB is a concern. But we will see what Peters, Dantzler, Cole, etc. do this year.
• 8 starters returning on defense. We return ~ 13 of our 15 top tacklers from last year. This Defense is stacked.
5. Schedule and Coaching
• Schedule is tough as always because we're in the SEC. But we get Florida, Auburn, A&M, and Arkansas at home. Need to win our home games- I think we will. We go on the road to Kentucky- we will win. Ole Miss- payback, we will win. LSU- always tough, but we will win. At Alabama- I think the winner of this game will go to Atlanta. This year is our chance to beat Alabama- but it won't be easy.
•Moorhead has HC experience, albeit at Fordham, he knows how to handle HC duties. Our offense is converting from Spread to Spread, so it's not like a whole new process.
•Shoop is the question. But it would take a disaster to mess it up this year.

Don't let that 3rd place ceiling hype go to your heads now...you actually have to follow through.

Ed Orgeron had 14 future NFL players including 3 pro bowlers and two first round draft picks and he went winless in the SEC in 2007.
Point being, coaching has a big impact and we don't know what kind of head coach Moorhead is yet. But I guarantee he doesn't finish above 3rd in the West this year

Will Moorhead run the QB as much as Mullen did? Having a DT QB that could take it off tackle with the RB as lead blocker was a staple of Mullen’s best teams. Fitz is back but, will he be able to do what he did and is Moorhead going to put him in a position to do it?
Homerism aside, MSU vs LSU is a toss-up. Throw last year’s result out the window.

If State does live up to the hype, will y’all quit posting about how great y’all are?

I would buy the hype but here are reasons why I'm hesitant.
You told me to buy the hype when your basketball team picked up momentum and then you made it to the NIT to only not win.
You told us to root for your women's basketball team, but they lost.
You made an incredible run in college baseball, only to go dead with the final four teams left.
WHY SHOULD WE LISTEN TO YOU GUYS?
I think this is why you guys catch shite sometimes.

"guys" indicating plural. Before this there is only 1 MSU poster in this thread.

So what you are saying is that MSU has basically the same team as last year minus their Head Coach (single most important team individual), their Left Tackle (most important lineman), and they have a road P5 OOC game this year. Now we should expect them to win 2 more games than they did last year.

I'm buying the hype but not as a conference contender.
I think Moo U will be sneaky good this year but really only good enough to upset lsu two years in a row and finish maybe third or fourth in the division.
State competes with arse to mouth (a&m) for third in the division.

This was intended for the usual ankle bitters that attack me.
Sorry if I offended you and mother Cane my brother.
