I can't verify but supposedly a 7 AM coaches meeting was called.

That is unusual.

11-6 after that pounding from UCF.

Norvell still has a pretty good ways to go in terms of becoming a big time Power 5 coach. He's got a really strong offensive identity, but thus far has been unable to find a defensive identity. Part of that may be youth, part of it may be the fact that he's coaching at Memphis.

I think he eventually could be really good, but I just don't know yet. He's not Justin Fuente though

It’s annoying to see reporters discuss vague rumors without details and just leave it at that. It’s a good way to hint you know what you’re talking about with absolutely no accountability.

“I’ve heard a rumor that stuff may happen in Knoxville today.” Great journalism.

Just got off the phone with someone inside the athletic department.

I'm calling false flag on this one.

It would be so UT to fire him today. Following the LSU playbook page by page.

Tennessee would be wise to go ahead and cut bait with this guy. They may be able to get ahead of the coaching carousel and take a big name off the market. I'd go after Leach if I were them.

I don't see this as following the LSU playbook at all. LSU fricked themselves over by announcing that they were going to fire Miles and then failing to do so. THEN doing it one month into the following season.

They were never going to get a coach like Jimbo after all that shite. It came across as if the entire athletic department was being ran by catty 12 year old girls.

You can fire a coach mid season and come out ahead of the game. If it's done right.

Mike Norvell is a good coach and a fantastic guy... He is Hugh Freeze with morals. TN isn't smart enough to find that kind of talent. Wish you guys would start playing Memphis. I'd love to see the vols get whipped in Liberty Bowl stadium on the reg.

I'll tell you what actually happened. Believe me or don't, but Darrell Taylor stomped on Trey Smith's face after practice. Smith had to go to the ER and will be out a few weeks. Taylor is getting kicked off the team. That's the "big news" coming out of Knoxville today.

Let me say, I have NO insider information and not sure if this is true, but heard through the grapevine that "Butch is for sure being fired today."
