A&M
Good: quality academic environment. Great campus culture with lots to do if you bother to get out of your room and meet people. Lots of traditions, most are fun to participate in as long as you don't go overboard obnoxious about them.
Bad: The town is boring AF. It's like the most milquetoast suburb you can imagine, without an actual city nearby. Too many students and grads get too obnoxious about the "rules" of being an Aggie. Admin treats the student body like a revenue stream, and all the "we treat our students like family, A&M feels much smaller than it is" talk is BS. A&M is a megacollege focused on increasing revenue. That's it.

LSU
Good: it's pretty cheap as far as state universities go, and even cheaper if you have TOPS. Pretty campus.
Bad: Baton Rouge is objectively a horrible city, run by the lowest IQ politicians that exist, and the police department can't be bothered to do the most basic work to investigate crimes, if you can even get an officer to respond. Baton Rouge, and Louisiana don't have the right demographics or drive to fix their problems. It will only get more dangerous.
Also, the north gates should be a much better area. frick riverside towing.

I work at Kennesaw State and we probably do benefit some by UGA turning down a lot of bright white students who can’t get into school in Athens because of the affirmative action gone wild. KSU is now Georgia’s second largest university (Georgia State being the largest) with 41,000 students.

bullshite. That crap is everywhere, and the idea that A&M is uniquely "bad" about it is just wrong.
I have degrees from both A&M and Texas. The racism tension at UT is significantly worse than A&M, just like its worse in the North (where I live now) than it is in the South.

Arkansas
What hasn't changed since I was there in 77-82 - in about an hour one can be fishing in a trout stream, unloading a canoe at the Buffalo River or setting up a tent on White Rock Mountain.
My first semester I wrote a check for $275 to cover the tuition for full load of classes. Probably can't buy a book much less an hour of classes for that now.

{McKinney and Sharp under direction of Perry } trying to turn it into a degree mill did legitimately piss me off, and I do get annoyed at people trying to force traditions (that I love participating in) on people that have no desire to participate/understand.

That predated Young and was a combination of McKinney and Sharp under direction of Perry.

The good: core of USC's campus is second to none. It's gorgeous, and there isn't a more beautiful place to spend April afternoons. Columbia is centrally located, and two hours or less from major cities, beaches, and mountains. The city and surrounding areas are full of things to do. Girls are stunning, and go toe to toe with anyone else.
The bad: Columbia is hotter than the seventh circle of hell. August is damn near unbearable. Also, nice areas give way to shitholes with a quickness. The university itself has gone very woke, and full-on Globohomo. AD is inept.

I’m going to College Station in July for a Randy Rogers concert at Hurricane Harry’s. College Station is a really cool town.

Bama:
Good: I had an absolute blast during my time there and honestly if you can't have fun there (or any college really) than you can't have fun anywhere. The campus is amazingly well kept and i felt that the professors truly cared. We get sh&% on a lot because the name "Alabama" is our name but we actually produce quality graduates that can compete with a lot of higher reputation schools.
Bad: Way too high percentage of liberal arts degrees. I believe we are only 15% STEM; therefore whenever these average graduate pay scales come out we are always at the bottom. The town outside of campus and downtown is run-down and can be dangerous.

UGA-
The bad: Affirmative Action policies are pushing a lot of smart white kids off to Kennesaw State and Auburn, having a 4.0 and 1300 SAT isn't enough anymore, if you are the wrong skin color.
So right on this one! I have 2 friends that the wrong colored skinned kid didn't get into GA, but got into Tech!
Bama
The bad: Nothing at all! Maybe that it is so big now. When I was there in 80's there were about 15k students. My 2 kids are there now and there is over 30K.
The Good: Everything. The campus is beautiful, it is compact so you can walk from one end to the other for classes, the winning tradition is awesome, and I just love the University of Alabama!!

Graduated from several SEC schools (yeah, I am old), and did not have a bad time at any of them.
Academics- depended on your major, but my God you would think the professors would remember what it was like to be a student
Coeds- Spring in the South
I would do it all over again if given a chance though.

Hated the departmental exams in some of the C&BA classes. Not sure if they still have them but I remember a professor even saying she didn't like them.
Otherwise, wouldn't trade a single day of my time there, even my year in Paty

In 2003 we were waiting to get in our gate at Tiger Stadium and the UGA cheerleaders came in while we were waiting. I seriously don't know that I've ever seen a group of better looking women in my life.

Probably suited for another thread on a different board.......BUT that statement above holds a lot of truth and political irony and should be examined more.
