According to the resident corn dogs

TD

quote:

Of course everyone is disappointed with how things went last night but for those on the edge of the cliff, let us take a peek at Georgia in Kirby’s first year.

In 2015, Mark Richt was dismissed and Georgia finished the year at #24 and a 10-3 record. Kirby started out in 2016 with a preseason top 25 ranking and a roster featuring Leonard Floyd, Jordan Jenkins, Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, Roquan Smith, etc. UGA proceeded to go 8-5 including losses to Georgia Tech and 6-7 Vandy at home.

One could argue that Kirby walked into a better situation than Kelly did and his first year featured some nice wins including top 25 UNC & top 10 Auburn. He also lost a few head scratchers and finished the season outside of the top 25.

Maybe we should give Kelly and staff more than 1 game to establish what they want to do and have a body of work to judge before we want to fire the staff.

Oh and btw, in Kirby’s next year, UGA won the SEC and came within an eyelash of winning it all. Just food for thought.

What phase of grief is this?

What’s wrong with saying Kirby smart sucked his first season with a solid roster?

Kirby was a first year HC. Brian Kelly has been coaching longer than anyone in CFB and has two “NCs” already, remember?

I’ve also seen correlations to Nick Saban. Textbook delusion

said it last night, no way in hell is BK’s 2nd season in Red Stick going to come anywhere near to Saban’s year 2 at Bama or Kirb’s year 2 at UGa

All he’s saying is that Kirby smart had a bad season his first year and ended up just fine.

Kelly at LSU is more like Mark Richt at Miami.

Our roster was far from solid. A terrible qb. Bad LT. Floyd wasn’t even on that team, and chubb was less than a year out from a total knee destruction.

Okay. So Brian Kelly can’t have the same excuse?

I think what many of them overlook is that both Kirby and Saban were hungry up and comers when they got their first SEC HC gigs. I didn't see anything, in Boogyin Brian's sideline demeanor, last night that showed any remaining hunger and saw very little give a shite. Maybe it was just a one-off but I saw glimpses of Bert in his final couple of years at Arkansas.

Maybe he can. I doubt your roster is close to as bad though.
