Venables will make around $2.4 million this season to coach defense against ACC teams.

I’d say that’s pretty good.

If Lincoln Riley jumps to the NFL, he'll be offered to return to Oklahoma where he was DC.

Venables watches aspiring coaches:

Do well at their job
Have to fight off rumors
Interview for a job
Have flight aware track the wrong bmw Corp plane
Have to lie to fanbase
Then get called a liar
Then get called a master negotiator everyyear
Then have to play golf with a booster’s son
Then get fake racist claims from Daniel
Then go 3-9 first year
Then see firevenables.com
Then want to go back to being a DC for 3 mm

He seems happy at Clemson and I can't say I blame him.
Big money for doing basically 1/4th of the job of a HC.

I've thought about that. Dabo likes extremely aggressive defenses and I wonder how that could work out.

2.4m to coach defense for a college football team. And gave up a bunch of points to BC and ND. what a great gig

Brent better stick with his current seat. That would be the best plan for Clemson and USCe. Don't promote someone beyond their ability.

Lets bring in Mike Dubose for some comments

Tanner already came out and said he is looking for an Offensive minded coach...not sure Brent would top his list to be honest. And I don't see Brent leaving his cush job in Taterville to come here.

Why go there and coach against B12 offenses instead of making millions coaching against ACC offenses?

Clemson hired former SC coach Brad Scott. Wouldn’t be that crazy of an idea.

I'm convinced Venables is going to be a terrible head coach. Honestly just the fact that he doesn't have the ambition to have taken a HC position by now suggests he knows he isn't cut out for it either.

I completely agree with this. He may be like Will Muschamp. Excellent coordinator, but bad HC.

Venables is a terrible interview. I'm pretty sure he will never be a HC, and just a career DC at this point. Unless for some reason KSU ever offers ...

Venables is in a "tough" spot. If he doesn't take a HC job soon, he'll be labeled a lifetime DC and nobody will ever want him.

Only thing aggressive about Muschamp these days is his takeaway order at The Beacon.

How much we need to put in the new$pring offering plate to make it happen, taters?
