Brent Venables, OU's new HC & former Clemson DC, dishes on why he passed on Auburn HC job

In a Sports Illustrated/Big 12 article, Venables stated back in December/2021 that he decided against moving forward with the Auburn football program (when AU parted ways w/Gus Malzahn) because....
...It ultimately came down to a lack of alignment from boosters and university/athletic leaders.
This is basically what Harsin's earlier comments were about, as well, that were made last week in the midst of this very underhanded witch hunt on himself and his job.
As the short article states....
It’s worth noting Brent Venables didn’t go far in the process with Auburn, so it’s not like he was offered the job and turned it down.
From the sound of it, Auburn had interest, contacted Venables and it didn’t go beyond that.

Auburn's national reputation has been sealed in concrete 50 feet thick and don't think coaches everywhere know the liabilities of ever accepting a position there in the future and the great difficulty AU will face in finding a suitable coach should/when Harsin decide HE's had enough of Auburn.

What's wrong with repeating bad news for Auburn?

I mean, it’s pretty obvious Auburn is a shite show in regards to alignment. They need a coach to come in and tell the boosters to frick off or get in line.

Brian Harsin just did. Let's see how this works.

Yes, but Harsin also has some shite he needs to correct. He can’t go about things the Boise way. That was a concern from the beginning. They need a guy to tell the boosters to frick off. But they need the right guy to do it.

That was before the Hairsin debacle- which adds a little context to the Venebles comments.
Not all of us follow Auburn so closely, I was unaware of the Venebles comments. LSU was kind of in the middle of something that was taking away all the attention I could afford to sports.

Jet is finally back to not caring about basketball again. He's just now catching up.

He may do better than Lincoln Riley, he may not. Regardless , nothing changes the fact that he’s a sack of antlers.

OLD NEWS.
Auburn will be just fine when a coaching change is made in order to get rid of the a-hole that is currently occupying the position. Why? Because we have millions to spend and a history of making men millionaires regardless of the end result.
And it doesn't hurt that Auburn also has a history wherein the past 4 coaches have won the SEC, had undefeated seasons and played for and won a national title.

I know one thing; I’d be a little worried about a defamation lawsuit from the girl.
