Nope. The Bear was way better

If he wasn’t already dead, the last twenty years of Tennessee football would have definitely killed him.

It’s amazing how much he won given that he was the First openly gay SEC football coach and the persistent rumors of his love of bestiality.

Dislike for Tennessee football aside, Robert Neyland is damn great American and an SEC football legend.

So he's celebrating the Big 1-2-6!
What has he done lately?

Bear was a better coach but Neyland was a better man.

2-5 in bowls carries the Tennessee Tradition well

Bowl games were treated as rewards back then. The final polls were released before the bowls and coaches didn't work the team hard in preparation for the bowl games. The National Champion/Champions had already been decided. Bowl games were just exhibition games back then.

The Bear was a very humble guy. He also faced Neyland when he was just starting out as a college coach. Neyland, at that point in time, was in the prime of his career.
If you pit 50s Neyland against 70s Bear, I would take the Bear every single time.

Vols and shafts good job leaving out the 2-5 in bowl games. Neyland had some awesome stats. Before I was born but great record
