Interesting back and forth year between this boring baseball reporter and the hosts. They point to Great plays like the Kick six and the overall appeal, attendance and ratings. I'm not much of a baseball guy and this guest is exactly why.

Baseball will still be played in 2040, so.

And it will always be America’s past time

Football is a game, while baseball is a religion.

So football isn’t a religion in the south? Turn in your southern card Arkansas.

It's just not the same. You can watch baseball nearly every day of the year, while football games are mostly only weekends for 4 months. Football games are a big event, while you live baseball daily.

You don't have the same relationship with any other team that you do with your baseball team, if you truly care about them.
It's just different. Like red said, they play all the time, you see their faces, etc.

I worry about football participation numbers across the nation going down. Not in the South but in other parts of the country from I have seen it seems high school participation is down. We’re fine here but parts of the country kids are not playing like they use to it sesms .

Wouldnt you say the amount of people that "Truly Care" have gone down in baseball?
shite i played into my 20's and i cant remember the last time i watched a entire game. Even at Suntrust i might catch the 7th on haha

Do kids even play tackle football anymore? In ten years all the kids signing LOIs will have never put on pads until they are freshmen in high school.

Yes, they do. Although flag football is gaining popularity, at my elementary school, kids come to school with their jersey & they show me highlights on youtube

During the season and that's relatively new. You're also talking about games that will mostly mean very little to you, whereas in baseball it's mostly your favorite MLB team and it's numerous minor league teams/players.

I understand your point but my question is....how many people REALLY care about baseball. What do you think percentage of people at the games are just at the games because its something to do as opposed to people really watching the game.

Participation numbers are cratering in So California.

I think a lot of them really care about baseball. Baseball has some of the best fans in all of sports, imo. I think the biggest fans are more passionate than the biggest fans of football, but there's just not as many of them.
Also worth mentioning that this is why a single game doesn't mean as much. MLB teams play 10X more games then NFL teams, so imagine if Georgia played 130 football games each season, rather than 13. A single game wouldn't mean as much to you, but you'd spend a lot more time watching games.

Kinda to my point of football meaning more and being more important. More so in the south. Too many damn games in baseball to keep up or care as much. Yeah if its October its hype. But if there isnt a shot of that its kinda ehh.

Football is dying. 20 years from basketball will be the most popular sport in the USA. It's already the 2nd most popular sport in the world behind only soccer. It's growing fast too, just look at the influx of international talent over the last few seasons compared to 15 years ago.

They're just different games. I only follow college football/baseball nowadays, but I was once a huge Cardinals fan and would watch their minor league teams on the internet every day, because it's similar to following recruiting in football. While you get bored during offseason with other sports, baseball continues year round and it's exhausting. That's what I mean when I say it's a religion, because you live it every day.
Baseball fans were the first to go crazy with stats with Sabermetrics, so you know those guys were diehard fans. I think everyone should read up on baseball history, or at least watch a Ken Burns documentary on it, because unless you do that, then you probably won't ever have an understanding of the love some have for the game.
