Pelini's buyout equals the total amount of base salary and compensation left in his contract. If he's fired without cause in his first year, LSU would owe him about $6.9 million; if he's fired without cause in his second year, about $4.6 million; and his buyout would be about $2.3 million in his final year.

That's embarrassing. Those are the types of head coach buyouts that we used to laugh at schools for 5 years ago.

These numbers are a bit off. The only way he would be owed $6.9 million as a buyout is if he was fired the first day he was hired.
The entire contract is worth $6.9 million, it started in January this year.
If he was fired after this season, he would be owed about $4.6-$5.0-ish million depending on the date probably.
If he was fired after next year his buyout would be between $2.3-$2.7 million depending on that date.

Pelini's buyout
The last time the LLLSU slobbering and ravening fan mobs were carrying torches and pitchforks through the streets, hunting and hating a defensive coordinator, was when some guy named Steele was the coach.
What ever became of that complete LLLoser? He probably is holding up a sign at some busy intersection.... I’ll bet the LLLSU mob is glad they don’t have him as DC.
...The idiocy of LLLSU fans over what a DC coach actually does has no limit. So they complain that Pelini yells at the players? Really? Maybe he should...

I am in talks with my A&M contacts on securing a loan for a much needed buy out.
Interest rate is going to be a killer.

LSUs problems are not limited to Pelini.

Hadnt Pelini basically been out of work for awhile prior to LSU hiring him?

He was the head coach at Youngstown State.

Bo Pellini's getting revenge on LSU for firing him. He's getting the final word.
He who laughs last, laughs loudest (he's having a ball!).

Any kind of coach at all.

For how good of an AD Woodward is, he has sucked at contracts every where he has been.

The literal damage he's done to our fanbase far exceeds 6.9M. We're already in a huge hole due to Covid. This ridiculousness of a defense only hurts.
I do find it funny, however, that the teams dumping on our Tigers will never even sniff a NC, let alone win one.

I hate to pile on but Ole Miss, the OP was an Ole Miss fan, claims 3 national titles. LSU claims 4. Your titles may be more recent but its not like the Rebs have never sniffed a title.
To LSU's credit there are some very iffy Nattys they were awarded back in the day they don't claim. Unlike some programs we could mention.
As for Pelini... I know LSU lost a ton of talent but the defense just looks grabasstic out there. Its the dreaded 11 chickens with their head cut off defense. Trust me. I know this defense all to well.
