I don’t mind the old stadium as much as I do it’s location. Downtown carjack city is not a place I like being. Seems to me the Hoover Met would be a more fan friendly location.
Meh, its not that bad.

Assuming the league and team is still around in 2021 (which I think seems plausible at this point), they will be playing in UAB's new stadium which has a much better location.

projecting whether this league is around next year is still a stretch. week one is easy. see if it is still pulling a 2.0 on CBSSN in week 10 will tell whether there is an appetite for this kind of football. I was watching the Iron take care of business while MSU cemented itself as AAF LBU

I went to a few UAB games this past season and I encountered NO Problems.
The area isnt great but it's not what people on the rant make it out to be.
Ill be there Saturday, weather permitting

Watching Birmingham and Orlando beat down their opponents was like playing Madden on the lowest difficulty setting.

Exactly. I mean, it is pretty hood, but there were absolutely no problems on Sunday. Everything seemed smooth, and harmonious.

Having your car stolen or getting robbed while going to a game at Legion Field is a myth. You wouldn't want to hang out after dark in the projects across the street when it's not a game day, but I've never known anybody who was personally a victim of a crime while attending a football game at Legion Field.

Yeah it is all overhyped. I've been to plenty of games there over the years. Back when UAB and Troy played every year. And I took my daughter to a few UAB games. It is fine. It is never that crowded so you can always park in their parking lot. Back in the day when Bama played there you'd have to park in someone's yard and hope for the best.

When the AHSAA still played the Super 6 at Legion Field there were some big 6A games with Hoover vs Prattville or Daphne where we had to park in people's yards and I don't remember anybody having any problems.

I went to UABs home opener this past year and I parked in an abandoned business lot across the street from legion field.
It's plenty of police presence on game days.
Prob the ones who comment about robberies and such dont go to begin with.
Birmingham has a problem with the OTM communities particularly the residents. They like to see Bham fail for some reason.
I live OTM and I find it nice but people can be pricks.
I have a nosy neighbor and she cant mind her damn business (see earlier post).
Those communities thought bringing the Barons back to Birmingham would doom them. Well, it hasnt and I think attendance has actually spiked.
Plus, there is a surge of mixed use residential buildings popping up all over Bham. Avondale has completely transformed. I left Alabama for the military in the 2000's and the entire area was a dump including downtown.
I was shocked to see how the area is growing. I just wish it would spread quicker. I dont see anything sparking the western side of town soon.
Plus, law enforcement in the area has told me the western side of town is probably the worst (Ensley, Westend, Roosevelt City, Lipscomb, Brighton, and unfortunately my hometown Bessemer).
Eastlake property values are slowly increasing and the rift-raft is slowly being pushed out due to redevelopment.

That's definitely more of an over 35 crowd thing.
While all those old fricks were busy blaming millennials for ruining everything, we we're busy revitalizing the entire Southside and bringing Birmingham back to life.
Nightlife and entertainment is 20x better than it was 10 years ago.
Living is better than it was 10 years ago when we began to move back to Birmingham in droves. We're the ones who have been buying up and flipping properties around Avondale, and the Southside, and other areas that are now having new mixed use high rise apartment buildings built.

I love going downtown now.
More bars, restaurants, etc.
Ive been investing in properties in the Eastlake area, because right now they are cheap but the values are increasing.
I think Norwood will start revitalizing soon after the stadium is completed. I had my eyes on a vacant property on the Northside of Bham, it had a beautiful view of downtown and would overlook the new stadium, unfortunately, someone put in an offer before me :(.

That's smart. I know a guy who started buying and flipping homes in Avondale in 2012 and he made a small fortune.
And yea, I've definitely heard Norwood is the next hot neighborhood

Norwood has some huge homes that have fallen apart.
So much potential though.
I buy, flip and rent. For what I got the house for, ill recoup in rent. Then, when the area values start peaking ill sell. WIN and should be all profit!$$

We bought a house not that long ago in Crestwood North and it’s already gone up a pretty significant amount. Love the area and being close to downtown.
